  • Publication number: 20140222295
Abstract: A method and apparatus for limiting assisting steering torque in a steering system having electronic power assisted steering is provided. In accordance with the method and apparatus, a steering angle change desired by the driver is determined and a range of valid steering angle changes dependent upon the steering angle change desired by the driver are defined. Subsequently it is determined whether a current steering angle change is included in the range of valid steering angle changes, and if the current steering angle change is not included in the range of the valid steering angle changes, the assisting steering torque is limited.

  • Publication number: 20140222291
Abstract: In accordance with various exemplary embodiments, the present disclosure provides a method for controlling a steering aid for a steering system of a vehicle. Upon activation of a vehicle in which a steering aid has been deactivated, a signal instructing a driver to rotate a steering wheel of the steering system without a steering assist motor can be generated. Whether rotation of the steering assist motor occurs during rotation of the steering wheel can be determined. The steering aid can be activated when the steering assist motor has rotated.

  • Publication number: 20140121904
Abstract: A method for reducing the steering torque in a steering system of a vehicle. A method including the steps of monitoring a driver's torque as applied by a driver of the vehicle; providing a plurality of torques that can be imposed on the steering system; and reducing the torques that can be imposed on the steering system by a central reduction factor if monitoring of the steering system reveals a violation of a safety criterion.

  • Publication number: 20120101685
Abstract: A power steering system (1) for a vehicle comprises a torque limiter (5) for limiting a torque applied by the power steering system (1), wherein the limitation is based on the anticipated reaction by the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7954593
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for compensating for drive influences of a drive train of a motor vehicle on its steering system, said motor vehicle having an electric power steering system. A drive train simulation model which is integrated into the motor vehicle and permanently activated is used to determine disturbance variables from a driven behavior so that a compensation torque which counteracts the disturbance variables is generated for the power steering system.

  • Patent number: 7646290
Abstract: A deceleration warning device for reducing rear-end collisions in road traffic includes a sensor for detecting a longitudinal acceleration value, a control device receiving the longitudinal acceleration value, determining an acceleration limit value, and generating a warning signal if the longitudinal acceleration value exceeds the acceleration limit value, and a rear lighting display for displaying an alarm state when the control device emits a warning signal. Determination of the acceleration limit value is based upon a plurality of signals including an anti-lock braking system (ABS) signal and a brake pedal position signal. The control device is operable in one of three levels depending upon a detected quality of the signals.

  • Publication number: 20070194904
Abstract: The invention relates to a deceleration warning device for reducing rear-end collisions in road traffic, comprising: means (1) for detecting a longitudinal acceleration value a; a control device (3a; 3b; 3c; 3d) which is designed to receive the longitudinal acceleration value a at one of its inputs and to calculate an acceleration limit value upon exceeding of which a warning signal is emitted, the calculation of the acceleration limit value incorporating input parameters P, a filter device (2a; 2b) being interposed between the means (1) for detecting a longitudinal acceleration value and the control device, and display means for displaying an alarm state when the control device emits a warning signal.
