  • Patent number: 9662765
Abstract: A device for electromechanically assisted roller burnishing (EMRB) may comprise: a roller burnishing tool with exactly one current-leading roller burnishing element for burnishing a workpiece, wherein the roller burnishing element represents a first electrical contact element for electrically contacting first location of the workpiece, and a second electrical contact element for electrically contacting second location of the workpiece; wherein the first and the second electrical contact elements can be positioned at a settable spatial distance to one another, so that on moving the roller burnishing element on the workpiece, a current path in the workpiece between the first and the second contact elements is always a constant length.

  • Publication number: 20150047162
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and method for electromechanically roller burnishing a surface of a workpiece, in which precisely one current-guiding roller burnishing element for roller burnishing and one separate electrical contact element are used and, as the roller burnishing element is moved on the workpiece surface, said electrical contact element is guided thereafter such that a current path of a constant length is directed through the workpiece as roller burnishing takes place. The invention allows, in a cost-effective manner, a high surface quality to be achieved as well as a precisely-adjustable microstructural alteration to the upper layers of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 8953245
Abstract: A selectably transmissive internally focused intermediate image lens and a lens based optical window include a number of such lenses. Each selectably transmissive internally focused intermediate image lens in a lens based optical window includes a first and second lens portion. The first lens portion receives light and focuses it into a focused image at a focal plane that is coplanar with a second side of the first portion. A second lens portion has an image side adjacent to the second side of the first lens portion and an opposite side opposite the image side. The second lens portion refracts the focused image as an image projected through its rear side. Each lens further includes a selectably transmissive shutter that is located at the internal focal plane and that is controllable to block at least a portion of light passing therethrough.

  • Patent number: 8643950
Abstract: An image augmenting window and method of operation. An image augmenting window has at least one selectably transmissive internally focused intermediate image lens with a first and rear side opposite one another. Each lens respectively has a first portion that receives light and focuses it into a focused image on an internal focal plane. Each lens also has a projecting output optical structure that refracts the focused image as a projected image exiting the rear side at an exit angle. A selectably transmissive shutter is located in the internal focal plane and is controllable to block at least a portion of light passing through the lens. At least one controllable light source, positioned adjacent to a lateral side of a respective selectably transmissive internally focused intermediate image lens, emits projected light parallel to the exit angle. A controller independently controls each shutter and each controllable light source.

  • Patent number: 6704514
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of establishing and/or maintaining a wake mode in an electrical installation, which in addition to at least one receiving device has at least one transmitting device that is connected through an optical bus system. So as not to always have to operate the different devices in the stand-by mode when no data traffic takes place through the optical bus system, the state of the art proposes activating the receiving device only part of the time. If during that time the receiving device receives a corresponding signal from the transmitting device, the stand-by mode is ended in order to establish the data exchange. However this operating mode is also disadvantageous because of the power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20010018344
Abstract: Movement data of a mobile station (15) which is associated with a mobile radio network are determined by storing, for a plurality of base stations (23, 24, 25, . . . ) which are associated with the mobile radio network and which successively supply the mobile station (15) as it moves, at least the location information (Z; X, Y) which is associated with the base stations, and deriving the movement data from a sequence of stored location information in order to be able to call from a database traffic-related information by means of the movement data.

  • Patent number: 6160825
Abstract: An automatic personal computer-based, rapid calibration system for tunable, narrowband lasers is achieved, detecting the LIF (Laser Induced Fluorescence) spectrum of a suitable known medium in a reference cell, which is also stored as a database in the PC to compute a functional relationship between the wavelength-shifting actuator in the laser and the emitted laser wavelength. The PC is either connected to the LIF spectrum-detecting circuit and the laser interface. Substances (media) used for reference have to exhibit at least two distinct electronic absorption lines within the tunability range of the laser. By comparing the measured and the stored LIF spectrum of the reference medium, the spectral properties of the laser are calculated automatically.
