  • Patent number: 9888083
Abstract: A system, methods, nodes, and computer programs for transcribing of a communication session in a communication network are described. The communication network includes a control server for controlling the communication session, wherein the communication session is established between a user equipment and a remote end. The method includes that the control server receives a service indication indicating that a transcript of the communication session is requested and sends a transcription request for the communication session to a policy controller of the communication network. The policy controller determines at least one policy rule corresponding to the received transcription request and sends the determined at least one policy rule to a packet gateway node of the communication network. The packet gateway node provides, based on the at least one policy rule, a transcription or transcript chunk of at least one speech stream related to the communication session.

  • Publication number: 20180026814
Abstract: A technique for routing datagrams between costumer equipments, CEs, (102) and a pool (110) of broadband network gateways, BNGs, (112) is provided. As to a device aspect (120) of the technique, a first establishing unit (122) is configured to establish a first connection (123) between the device (120) and each of the CEs (102). A second establishing unit (124) is configured to establish a second connection (125) between the device (120) and each BNG (112) in the pool (110) of BNGs (112). A mapping unit (126) is configured to map each of the first connections (123) to one of the second connections (125). The mapping specifies the routing of the datagrams.

  • Patent number: 9634864
Abstract: A Media Gateway, in connection to a backbone, measures a packet loss and/or jitter, receives a call and notices an indication that a higher packet loss and/or jitter is acceptable. The Media Gateway decides, based on said measured packet loss or jitter and said indication, whether the call is admitted to be routed via said backbone even though the packet loss or jitter is above a predefined threshold. A Mobile Switching Centre Server in connection to a backbone, receives a call set-up, detects that a call set-up should be performed by a Media Gateway even if the packet loss or jitter is above a predefined threshold, and provides an indication to the Media Gateway that a higher packet loss or jitter is acceptable.

  • Patent number: 9426186
Abstract: Systems (10), nodes (11, 12) and methods for load balancing telecommunication sessions over a dual ring Internet Protocol (IP) network (100) allow load balancing between first and second rings (1, 2) of the IP network. Transmission quality is determined by monitoring packets received over the first ring from a first IP subnetwork (21) of one or more remote sites and monitoring packets received over the second ring from a second IP (22) subnetwork of the one or more sites. A determination is made as to which one of said first and second rings (1, 2) is associated with the highest packet transmission quality towards a site based on the monitoring. Packets of a call session can be exchanged between nodes over the same one of the first and second rings (1, 2) associated with the highest packet transmission quality between sites containing the nodes.

  • Patent number: 9319488
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for multiplexing data packets from different Internet Protocol (IP) hosts to one multiplexing packet before the one multiplexing packet is sent to a destination IP host. The different data packets are then demuliplexed from the one multiplexing packet and distributed to different destination IP hosts.

  • Publication number: 20150304865
Abstract: In a method monitoring quality of service (QoS) of an IP based communication service, a node for controlling the IP service receives a request for initiating a session of the IP service. The node sends a request authorizing the session to a policy controller, and sends an indication to the policy controller that QoS monitoring is required for the session. The policy controller determines a policy rule for identifying and controlling user plane traffic of the session and sends an indication of the policy rule to a gateway node. The policy controller also sends an indication to the gateway node that QoS monitoring is required for the identified user plane traffic. The gateway node monitors QoS of the identified user plane traffic, and sends a QoS report indicating the QoS to the policy controller. The policy controller forwards the QoS report to the node for controlling the IP service.

  • Patent number: 8660609
Abstract: There is disclosed a manner of controlling traffic by admission control in a communication network such as one operable according to GSM standards. When a call setup request is received from an MS, the BSC forwards the request to an MSC, which selects a MGw that is accessible to the BSC via an IP backbone. When notified of the MGw selection, the BSC runs an algorithm to assess the transmission quality of the IP backbone toward the MGw. The BSC then determines whether to reject the call setup request depending on whether the quality level is acceptable as determined by the algorithm. If the call setup proceeds, the MGw may run a similar algorithm to assess the quality of the IP backbone toward the BSC. The BSC and MGw may also check their own bandwidth limitations prior to running their respective algorithms.

  • Patent number: 8605713
Abstract: A method and system of negotiating Media Gateways (MGs) between a plurality of call control nodes (CCNs). The system includes an originating CCN which builds an original list of configured Media Gateways capable of being used in a call by the originating CCN. The first CCN associates an identifier and a priority with each Media Gateway in the list prior to sending the list to a subsequent CCN. The subsequent CCN removes from the original list any identifiers associated with any MG in the original list of identifiers which is not capable of being used in the call by the subsequent CCN. The subsequent CCN then forms a modified list of identifiers associated with at least one MG capable of being used in a call by the originating CCN and the subsequent CCN. The subsequent CCN also selects a specified MG from the modified list and sends a first backward message from the second CCN to the originating CCN identifying the specified MG.
