  • Patent number: 10427795
Abstract: Inter alia, an apparatus including a ramp, the ramp configured to enable variation of a cross section of a ram air passage of the apparatus. The ramp includes a first rigid member, a second rigid member and a flexible member coupled to the first rigid member and the second rigid member. The ramp is movably mounted at two ends. Moreover, a method of varying the cross section of the ram air passage of such an apparatus by moving the ramp of the apparatus is disclosed. Further, an arrangement including such an apparatus and a ram air channel communicating with the ram air passage is disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 31, 2015
Date of Patent: October 1, 2019
    Assignee: Airbus Operations GmbH
Inventors: Jens Telgkamp, Dirk Elbracht, Wolfgang Eilken, Bruno Stefes, Christian Bartels
  • Patent number: 9316562
Abstract: The invention relates to a structural component, to a system and to a method for monitoring the integrity of a structure or a structural component. The structural component according to the invention has at least one elongated air duct which can be connected to a vacuum source and to a device for detecting the volumetric flow of air and/or the air pressure in the air duct, wherein, when the structure is intact in the region of the air duct, the air pressure in the air duct essentially corresponds to the air pressure of the vacuum source and there is essentially no volumetric flow of air through the air duct but, when a structural defect occurs in the region of the air duct, air from the region surrounding the structure or structural component enters the air duct and increases the air pressure and volumetric flow of air in the air duct in an identifiable manner.

  • Patent number: 7913568
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of dimensioning and producing stiffened structural components (4) comprising at least one shell component (6) and at least one stiffening component (8) which can be connected thereto, in which the shell component (6) and the at least one stiffening component (8) is dimensioned on the assumption of intactness of the at least one stiffening component and having regard to a predetermined safety factor and/or a predetermined structural inspection interval in which a predetermined maximum crack progression in the shell component is not to be exceeded and/or the strength of the structural component is not to fall below a predetermined minimum residual strength, and in which the at least one stiffening element (8) of the structural component dimensioned by this method is equipped with at least one structural condition sensor (30) for detecting intactness; as well as the use of structural condition sensors in an aircraft, in particular a passenger aircraft.
