  • Publication number: 20220373722
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems for providing optical coatings for optical components are disclosed herein. An example optical component may comprise an optical coating, the optical coating having a visible light reflective layer disposed adjacent a surface of the optical component; at least a first non-visible light reflective layer disposed adjacent the visible light reflective layer; and at least a second non-visible light reflective layer disposed adjacent the first non-visible light reflective layer.

  • Patent number: 6727863
Abstract: The present invention relates to planar materials having bandgap properties. The materials are formed by depositing conductive fractal patterns on a non-conducting substrate. The bandgap location(s) are defined by parameters including the number of fractal levels, and the dimension of the fractal mother element. The bandgaps can also be actively controlled by injecting current into the conducting pattern.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 26, 2001
Date of Patent: April 27, 2004
Assignee: The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Inventors: Weijia Wen, Ping Sheng, Che Ting Chan, Weikun Ge, Lei Zhou, Jensen Li
