  • Publication number: 20060032069
Abstract: A system, for installation of fastening systems to a structure, includes a fastening system installation specification, which includes dimensional and qualitative requirements for components of the fastening systems; and a tool. The tool includes an outer housing having an interior hollow, a gage surface, and a base surface, the base surface having a contact area that contacts the surface of the structure. An inner plug disposed within the interior hollow translates axially within the interior hollow. The inner plug has a sensing end that contacts a bolt of the fastening system and references the shank section of the bolt. The inner plug has an indicator end dimensioned to accept washers and nuts of the fastening system stacked on the gage surface. The inner plug has an indicator that provides installation information, according to either qualitative or dimensional requirements, about the components of the fastening system being installed using the tool.

  • Patent number: 6997521
Abstract: A vehicle includes at least one wheel, a parking brake associated with the at least one wheel and a service brake associated with the at least one wheel, and a braking control system. The braking control system interprets operator on/off commands to the parking brake. The service brakes are actuated instead of or in addition to the parking brake when a parking brake application is ordered and the vehicle speed falls outside a preferred vehicle speed range. If the vehicle is stopped and the parking brake is engaged, the parking brake is not disengaged responsive to an operator command until the service brake condition is within a preferred ready range.

  • Patent number: 6997798
Abstract: A plastic chimney cap is molded in one-piece from either a thermoset or a thermoplastic resin. The chimney cap has a wall extending continuously around a closed-circuit. The wall interior surface defines an interior space. A plurality of vent holes through the wall communicates with the interior space to vent combustion gases. A roof is attached to the upper edge of the wall. A flange is disposed outside the lower edge of the wall and has a perimeter extending completely around the wall. A shoulder connects the flange with the wall. Thickened reinforced regions with threaded holes and mounting screws are spaced apart around the flange perimeter for fastening the chimney cap to the flue. The interior surfaces can be coated with a metallized coating for heat resistance.

  • Patent number: 6998484
Abstract: The present invention relates to a new method for the synthesis of purine LNA (Locked Nucleic Acid) analogues which provides a higher overall yield. The method comprising a regioselective 9-N purine glycosylation reaction followed by a one-pot nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction of the 6-substituent in the purine ring and simultaneous nucleophile-induced intramolecular ring closure of the C-branched carbohydrate to form novel purine LNA analogues. The novel strategy is illustrated by the synthesis of the novel compound (1S,3R,4R,7S)-7-benzyloxy-1-methanesulfonylmethyl-3-(guanin-9-yl)-2,5-dioxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane which is easily converted into (1S,3R,4R,7S)-7-hydroxy-1-hydroxymethyl-3-((2-N-isobutyrylguanin-9-yl)-2,5-dioxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane after isobutyryl protection of the 2-amino purine group and subsequent substitution of 1-methanesulfonyl with benzoate, debenzoylation and debenzylation.

  • Publication number: 20060027068
Abstract: A knife assembly for use in a food cutting apparatus includes a compression ring adapted for threaded engagement with a base ring. The compression ring includes a threaded collar that tapers thinner towards its leading edge. The blade support ring tapers thinner towards a leading edge of the support ring sidewall. The blade support ring includes a sidewall having a plurality of blade second end receiving slots. At least two blades are connected at their first ends to a central cutter element and at their second ends to the blade support ring. As the compression ring engages the base ring, the advancing and opposing surfaces of the tapered sidewall of the compression ring and the tapered sidewall of the blade support ring cooperate imparting a compressive force against the ends of the blades, securing the blade with respect to the compression ring and the cutter element.

  • Publication number: 20060022407
Abstract: The crossword puzzle board game provides for competitive play in the solving of a crossword puzzle by two or more players. Players attempt to solve the puzzle by solving selectively revealed clues determined by a row or column determination die and selection of a row or column selection card. An answer is verified by removing concealing markers previously placed over the solution on a puzzle sheet. Alternatively, the solutions may be optically concealed, with a special viewer allowing them to be viewed. Points are distributed for correct answers according to the order in which the clues are solved; points are deducted for incorrect or misspelled answers. A player may attempt to solve one clue, or to “SNEAK A PEEK” under one marker and receive zero points at his or her turn. The game ends when all clues are answered; stalemates are not possible. The highest scoring player wins the game.
