  • Publication number: 20100111165
Abstract: Provided is a network flow-based scalable video coding (SVC) adaptation device. Without permitting a network transmitting end to divide image data into image data having various levels of quality and send the image data having the various levels of quality to all networks, since an adaptation device is installed in a network device of an ingress of a lower network of a subscriber and the adaptation device and the network transmitting end share network information about attributes of a terminal and the lower network of the subscriber so as to provide an image service having image quality corresponding to the terminal to the terminal, network efficiency can be maximized.

  • Patent number: 7710870
Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for controlling congestion of a node in an ad-hoc network comprising: classifying a channel state into a busy channel state and an idle channel state and then monitoring the channel state; performing contention for acquiring a channel with neighboring nodes when data to be transmitted is present during the monitoring of the channel state; calculating an available bandwidth on the basis of the channel state when wins the contention; and determining the amount of data to be transmitted on the basis of the available bandwidth. The nodes in the ah-hoc network monitor their own wireless channel state so as to obtain channel contention information, calculate an available bandwidth from the channel contention information, and control a transmission amount on the basis of the available bandwidth. Accordingly, the nodes can avoid excessive traffic which exceeds channel capacity.

  • Publication number: 20100039943
Abstract: An apparatus and method for measuring frame loss in multicast service traffic are provided. The method of measuring frame loss includes: counting the number of data frames of a predetermined multicast service flowing into an object network of frame loss measurement; counting the number of data frames of the predetermined multicast service flowing out of the network; and measuring frame loss by comparing the counted number of incoming frames and the counted number of outgoing frames. According to the method and apparatus, in a multicast service environment which is dynamically changing, frame loss of a predetermined multicast service can be conveniently and easily measured.

  • Publication number: 20090154337
Abstract: An Ethernet protection switching method based on a change in link status in a link aggregation sublayer is disclosed. If an Ethernet link aggregation sublayer is present on an Ethernet connection path, a link aggregation sublayer Management Entity Group (MEG) end point is assigned to the Ethernet link aggregation sublayer to generate a link aggregation message for Ethernet connection management and protection switching. When a change in link status is detected in the Ethernet link aggregation sublayer, the link-aggregation-sublayer MEG end point generates and sends the link aggregation message to an MEG end point performing Ethernet connection management and protection switching. Adequate Ethernet protection switching may be performed even in the presence of the link aggregation sublayer.

  • Publication number: 20080107136
Abstract: Provided is a method for forming a customized-quality integrated transport network based on synch and asynch frames, and a transport network forming apparatus thereof. The method of the present invention includes: a) synchronizing a transmission bit rate in a network; b) when the transmission bit rate is synchronized in the network and a connection request is received, establishing a connection by determining a route and a start cycle time of the link based on a quality of the connection request and transporting it to nodes of the link; and c) transmitting data to be transported to a link of an adjacent node within the virtual cycle time when the data are synch frames; or when the data are asynch frames and the data are not transmitted within a virtual cycle time of a link to be switched, keeping the data waiting for a next cycle time.

  • Patent number: 6654612
Abstract: Without intercell coordination on a per communication request basis, channel assignment can be efficiently performed by developing for each cell, or a sector thereof when the cells are sectorized using directional antennas, a priority list of groups of channels, and selecting a channel to be assigned in response to a request for service from the highest priority group which has available channels at the time of the service request. The priority lists are developed based on various interference measurements that are made. The priority lists tend to remain the same for relatively long periods of time. However, periodically, the priority lists should be redetermined to insure that the best lists are being employed. For example the lists may need to be changed due to new construction or to seasonal vegetation changes which may affect the interference experienced in the system. Advantageously, system capacity under peak concentrated load conditions may increase.
