  • Patent number: 6546593
Abstract: An upright type vacuum cleaner has a cyclone type dust collector removably disposed therein. The cyclone type dust collector separates by centrifugal force and collects various contaminants from the air that is drawn into the cleaner body. The cyclone type dust collector includes an upper cover, inner and outer cyclone receptacles, and a lower cover. The air, along with minute dust and large particle contaminants, is drawn into the dust collector and induced into a vortex, whereby the dust and contaminants are separated by centrifugal force and collected. The clear air is discharged to an outside atmosphere through an outlet pipe in the upper cover. The dust collector may be removed from the cleaner body and the lower cover opened to dispose of contaminants collected therein.

  • Publication number: 20030028993
Abstract: A robot cleaner, a system thereof, and a method for controlling the same. The robot cleaner system includes a robot cleaner that performs a cleaning operation while communicating wirelessly with an external device. The robot cleaner has a plurality of proximity switches arranged in a row on a lower portion of the cleaner body. A guiding plate is disposed in the floor of the work area, the guiding plate having metal lines formed in a predetermined pattern, the metal lines being detectible by the proximity switches. Since the recognition of the location and the determination of traveling trajectory of the cleaner within a work area becomes easier, performance of the robot cleaner is enhanced, while a burden of having to process algorithms is lessened.

  • Patent number: 6195835
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner having a cyclone dust collecting device for separating and collecting dust and dirt of a comparatively large particle size sucked from a suction opening of the cleaner by centrifugal force. The cyclone dust collecting device is biaxially placed against the extension pipe of the cleaner and includes a cyclone body having first and second connecting tubes connected to the extension pipe and a dirt collecting tub connected to the cyclone body to be removable. The cyclone body has an air inlet communicating with the first connecting tube and an air outlet communicating with the second connecting tube. The dirt-containing air sucked via the suction opening enters via the air inlet in a slanting direction against the cyclone body, thereby producing a whirlpool air current inside of the cyclone body. The dirt contained in the air is separated from the air by centrifugal force and is collected at the dirt collecting tub.
