  • Patent number: 7724328
Abstract: An apparatus for dual display includes a light unit providing a light and a display panel. The display panel includes a transmissive pixel transmitting the light from the light unit and a reflective pixel reflecting the light from the light unit. The display panel displays a first image on one side of the light unit by using the light transmitted by the transmissive pixel, and displays a second image on an opposite side of the light unit by using the light reflected by the reflective pixel. The display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate combined with the first substrate and disposed adjacent to the light unit, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and the second substrates. The display panel further includes a reflective layer formed on the first substrate corresponding to the reflective pixel. Therefore, a total thickness of the apparatus for dual display can be reduced considerably by using the light unit as a second display screen.

  • Publication number: 20080074902
Abstract: An edge type backlight assembly for an LCD includes a plurality of flexible printed circuit boards, each of which has a group of one or more LEDs mounted thereon and disposed adjacent to each other. If one of the LEDs is defective, only the board on which the defective LED is mounted needs to be replaced, thereby simplifying rework of the backlight assembly and reducing its manufacturing cost. Further, by coupling separate sources of power to the separate LED mounting boards, the amount of light emitted by separate regions of the display can be independently controlled.

  • Patent number: 7304693
Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display apparatus in which a liquid crystal display module and cases are tightly combined. At least one protuberance formed on a top chassis of the liquid crystal display module combines at least one fixing portion formed on a portion of a rear case corresponding to the at least one protuberance. Also, a fixing protuberance formed on a portion of a front case is inserted into between the liquid crystal display module and the rear case, thereby preventing the liquid crystal display module from being moved. Therefore, the liquid crystal display module and the cases are tightly combined, and productivity of the liquid crystal display apparatus can increase by reducing the number of parts demanded for fabrication of the liquid crystal display module and the cases.

  • Patent number: 7280171
Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display module having a reduced thickness thereof. A light exit surface of a light guiding plate for converting a linear light source output from the lamp in the form of planar light source is non-planarized with a plurality of convex portions having a desired height. A prism sheet for controlling a path of the light output from the light guiding plate is laid on the light guiding plate, as being opposite the plurality of convex portions. Accordingly, it is possible to uniformly control the brightness distribution of the light output from the light guiding plate without providing a separate diffusing plate between the light guiding plate and the prism sheet. In addition, since the plurality of convex portions which are formed integrally with the light guiding plate directly faces the prism sheet, adherence between the light guiding plate and the prism sheet can be prevented.

  • Publication number: 20070126949
Abstract: A display device includes a display panel, a first light unit, a second light unit, a first buffer member and a second buffer member. The display panel is disposed between the first and second light units, and displays an image. The first light unit is disposed on a first side of the display panel and supplies light to the display panel. The second light unit is disposed on a second side opposite to the first side of the display panel and supplies light to the display panel. The first buffer member is disposed between the display panel and the first light unit. The second buffer member is disposed between the display panel and the second light unit. Thus, a light guide plate included in each of the light units is substituted for a conventional window to reduce a thickness of the display device.
