  • Patent number: 6302780
Abstract: A ceiling grille for directing conditioned air from an air conditioning unit mounted upon the roof of a motor vehicle wherein comfort air is delivered into a plenum located inside the vehicle. The plenum has front and rear deflector vanes rotatably mounted therein for directing comfort air into the passenger compartment. Each vane has a rocker arm that is connected through suitable linkage to a cam follower. Each cam follower, in turn, rides on the cam face of a motor driven cam. The profile of the cam face is contoured to position the two vanes to control the direction of comfort air flow into the passenger compartment.

  • Patent number: 6196914
Abstract: A ceiling grille for an air conditioner of a recreational vehicle having a blade capable of being automatically pivoted. The ceiling grille comprises: a cam rotated by a motor for providing upward and downward moving forces, the cam having a camming surface formed at one end thereof; a link pivotally fastened to a bracket mounted to the ceiling grille, the link having one end on which a first projection is formed and the other end on which a second projection is formed, the first projection being brought into contact with the camming surface of the cam; an arm having one end secured to a center shaft of the blade to be integrally rotated therewith and the other end brought into contact with the second projection of the link; and a torsion spring wound around the center shaft for biasing the blade in one direction, whereby the blade is pivoted together with the center shaft as the cam is rotated by the motor. The blade has a hook member, and the ceiling grille has a locking clip.

  • Patent number: 6149513
Abstract: Disclosed is a ceiling grille for an air conditioner of a recreational vehicle. A center grille part is disposed on a lower surface of the ceiling grille for discharging cooled air in a vertical downward direction. The center grille part has a first center opening. A closure member is arranged above the center grille part for opening and closing the center grille part while being moved up and down. The closure member has a second center opening aligned with the first center opening and a cam part placed around the second center opening. A guide section guides upward and downward movements of the closure member. A spring is intervened between the center grille part and the closure member for biasing upward the closure member. A knob is rotatably fitted into the first and second center openings. A cap member is coupled to the knob to be integrally rotated therewith.

  • Patent number: 6134909
Abstract: A housing for physically and thermally isolating the evaporator section of an air conditioning unit that is mounted on the cabin roof of a trailer, van, or motor home. The housing is molded in two sections with the lower section being secured to the base pan of the unit over return air duct and the supply air duct formed in the pan. The housing is divided into a blower chamber containing the supply air duct and an evaporator coil chamber containing the return air duct. A converging nozzle is molded integrally into the housing which connects the evaporator coil chamber with the blower chamber. Elongated vertically disposed openings are provided in the side walls of the housing having guideways for contacting the tube sheets of an evaporator coil that is mounted in the evaporator coil chamber to prevent air from passing around said coil. Internal surfaces are provided within the housing for efficiently turning the air flow through the housing 180.degree..
