Publication number: 20240338385Abstract: Techniques are provided for cross-region replication of block volume data. The techniques include a method wherein a computer system implements operations including creating a first snapshot of a block volume at a first geographic region and at a first logical time, the block volume including a plurality of partitions, transmitting first snapshot data to an object storage system at a second geographic region, creating a second snapshot of the block volume at the first geographic region and at a second logical time, generating a plurality of deltas, transmitting a plurality of delta data sets corresponding to the plurality of deltas to the object storage system at the second geographic region, generating a checkpoint at least in part by aggregating object metadata associated with the plurality of deltas and the first snapshot, receiving a restore request to generate a restore volume, and generating the restore volume from the checkpoint.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 7, 2024Publication date: October 10, 2024Applicant: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Venkata Harish MALLIPEDDI, Travis John PORTZ, Jeppe Oskar Meyer LARSEN, Mario TAYAH

Patent number: 8166295Abstract: A computer-implemented method of providing security for an application running on a messaging based operating system is provided. The method includes obtaining a first message from a message queue for the application. Then, it is determined whether the first message is of a type registered by the application as being a potential security threat. Next, the first message is processed based upon the determination of whether it is of a type registered by the application as being a potential security threat. Security framework and application program embodiments are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2005Date of Patent: April 24, 2012Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventor: Jeppe Oskar Meyer Larsen

Patent number: 7908297Abstract: A user interface (UI) property mapping system allows for efficient collaboration between a user experience (UX) team and a technical development team developing the UI. The UI mapping system assigns each component of the UI an identification key and exposes the identification key externally through an XML Schema, wherein such an XML Schema may be used by a UX team to generate an XML file specifying values of various properties of the UI. Subsequently, a UI object model reads the XML file to retrieve the values of various properties of the UI as specified by the UX team. The UI property mapping system may encode the XML file into a resource file that may be shipped with the final software using the UI. Alternatively, the XML file may be exposed for external modifications by end users to make changes to the UI as they desire.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2006Date of Patent: March 15, 2011Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Chad Garrett Waldman, Arif Kureshy, Christian Hagel-Sørensen, Jeppe Oskar Meyer Larsen
