Publication number: 20250068386Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein include playback devices configured to operate in one or more playback configurations including configurations individual playback devices play back one or more corresponding channels of multichannel audio content. An audio parameter can be determined based on a distance between playback devices. In some examples, the audio parameter comprises a filter such as a low frequency filter that varies based on at least the distance between the playback devices. After the audio parameter is determined, the playback devices can play back audio content according to the determined audio parameter.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 12, 2024Publication date: February 27, 2025Inventors: Jerad Lewis, Douglas John Button, Kylie Beth Muntean, Daniel Jones, Adib Mehrabi, Christopher William Pike

Patent number: 12212917Abstract: Earphone positioning and retention mechanisms are disclosed. One earphone described includes a speaker driver, a flexible eartip comprising a first oval shaped contact surface at an opening forming a hole through the eartip, the first oval shaped contact surface configured to contact an outer surface of a user's ear canal when worn, a body portion comprising a second contact surface configured to position behind an anti-tragus portion of the user's ear, and, a retaining member formed of a compliant material, comprising a third contact surface configured to conform to a cymba conch portion of the user's ear, where the body portion and the retaining member are shaped in a way that the second contact surface contacts the anti-tragus portion and the third contact surface contacts the cymba conch portion at the same time, when the first contact surface is already in contact with the outer surface of the ear canal.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2023Date of Patent: January 28, 2025Assignee: SONOS, INC.Inventors: Brandon Holley, Wei-Hean Liew, Jerad Lewis, David Amaranto, Alexia Delhoume, Casper Asmussen, Victor Johansson

Patent number: 12003915Abstract: Playback devices such as headphone devices can include an earpiece configured to be positioned adjacent a user's ear. The earpiece can include a transducer having a diaphragm configured to face toward the user's ear when the earpiece is positioned adjacent the user's ear, as well as an outlet vent in fluid communication with the transducer and a microphone. A support member within the earpiece includes a first opening aligned with the microphone and a second opening aligned with the outlet vent. An acoustic mesh extends over the first opening and the second opening, wherein the mesh has a substantially uniform acoustic impedance.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2022Date of Patent: June 4, 2024Assignee: Sonos, Inc.Inventors: Jerad Lewis, Philippe Vossel, Michael Perkmann, Martin Seidl

Publication number: 20230097522Abstract: Systems and methods for mapping noise via a plurality of playback devices within an environment are disclosed herein. In one example, a plurality of playback devices can each output audio and also detect sound within the environment to obtain respective sound data specimens. For each playback device, the respective sound data specimen can be analyzed to obtain a respective noise determination. A spatial map of the noise determinations within the environment can then be constructed. A visual representation of the spatial map can further be presented to a user. In response to the noise determinations and/or a user input, the audio output via at least one of the playback devices can be modified, for example to mask or suppress noise within one or more regions of the environment.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 29, 2022Publication date: March 30, 2023Inventors: Adib Mehrabi, Saeed Bagheri Sereshki, Jerad Lewis
