  • Publication number: 20250084783
Abstract: A rotary engine, has: housings secured to one another, the housings including a first side housing, a second side housing, and a rotor housing disposed between the first side housing and the second side housing; and a rotor rotationally received within a rotor cavity defined by the first side housing, the second side housing, and the rotor housing; wherein the first side housing, the rotor housing, and the second side housing are cooled in parallel via respective coolant passages including: a first side housing coolant passage extending through the first side housing; a second side housing coolant passage extending through the second side housing; and a rotor housing coolant passage extending through the rotor housing, and wherein the coolant passages are free of inter-passage connection between the housings.

  • Publication number: 20240425194
Abstract: There is provided a power generation system for recuperating waste heat in an aircraft power plant. The power generation system includes a source of ammonia; an ammonia cracker in fluid communication with the source and decomposing the ammonia into hydrogen and nitrogen; a separator in fluid communication with the ammonia cracker, the separator separating the hydrogen and nitrogen from the ammonia cracker, the separator having a first outlet for a first output including hydrogen and a second outlet for a second output including hydrogen and nitrogen; a fuel cell in fluid communication with the first outlet of the separator, the fuel cell using the hydrogen of the first output of the separator and an oxidizing agent to generate electrical energy; and a thermal engine in fluid communication with the second outlet of the separator, the thermal engine using the hydrogen of the second output of the separator to generate mechanical energy.

  • Publication number: 20240410318
Abstract: An aircraft engine oil distribution system includes a system container, an oil reservoir disposed in the system container, the oil reservoir having a plurality of fins protruding from an inner-surface of a wall of the oil reservoir and extending into the oil reservoir, and a heat exchanger disposed in the system container. The heat exchanger includes a cooling fluid passage defined at least between the one or more walls of the system container and the sidewall of the oil reservoir, a matrix disposed in the cooling fluid passage in heat transfer relationship with the plurality of fins of the oil reservoirs.

  • Publication number: 20210047965
Abstract: A secondary air system for an aircraft engine comprises an air flow path communicating between a source of pressurized cooling air and an air consuming component. A filtering baffle is disposed in the air flow path upstream from the air consuming component. The filtering baffle has a monolithic body at least partly made of a cellular material, the cellular material including a non-stochastic lattice structure having a plurality of cells arranged in an ordered, repeating manner for trapping particulate matter contained in a flow of contaminated air.
