Patent number: 11609624Abstract: The present application describes a power management system for controlling delivery of power to a plurality of processing elements. The power management system includes a plurality of power management circuits arranged between terminals of a power supply. Each power management circuit is configured to connect to a processing element of the plurality of processing elements, and either supply sufficient power to power processing at the processing element, or prevent supply of sufficient power to power processing at the processing element. The power management system includes one or more power controllers arranged to determine whether or not to supply sufficient power to a processing element of the plurality of processing elements to perform processing.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2022Date of Patent: March 21, 2023Assignee: Block, Inc.Inventor: Jeremy Wade

Patent number: 11561593Abstract: A point-of-sale (POS) device includes a processor, a battery, a transaction object reader, a printer with a printer controller, and optionally a temperature sensor. The processor determines a present power discharge capability rate of the battery, optionally based on a temperature measured by the temperature sensor. The processor also calculates a first estimated power draw rate based on a first setting value for at least one of the components of the POS device, such as the printer. If the first estimated power draw rate is dangerously close to the present power discharge capability rate of the battery, a second estimated power draw rate is calculated based on a second setting value for the one or more components. If the second estimated power draw rate is no longer dangerously close to the present power discharge capability rate of the battery, the components are set to the second settings value.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2020Date of Patent: January 24, 2023Assignee: Block, Inc.Inventors: Cory Douthat, Jeremy Wade, Matthew H. Patent number: 11410154Abstract: In some examples, methods and systems may process one or more payment transactions between a merchant and a customer by obtaining at least one payment proxy having a syntax including a monetary currency indicator preceding an alphanumeric character. The payment proxy may be transmitted by a transmitter component of a payment beacon device. The method includes generating, through an application accessed through the customer device, a message by identifying the payment proxy in a message and a money transfer amount in the message; parsing the payment proxy to identify the merchant associated with the payment proxy in the message; identifying a merchant financial account associated with the identified merchant, based on a stored association between the merchant financial account and the identified merchant; and initiating, by the payment processing system, a transfer of funds indicative of the money transfer amount from a financial account of the customer to a financial account of the merchant.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2015Date of Patent: August 9, 2022Assignee: Block, Inc.Inventors: Brian Grassadonia, Jesse Dorogusker, Matthew H. Patent number: 11349942Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to identify sponsored media in a Document Object Model. An example method includes in response to initiation of a search for sponsored media in a first branch of a document object model for a webpage, initiating a first timer having a first search time period and a second timer having a second search time period, the first search time period and the second search time period overlap, the search to be terminated upon completion of traversing the first branch when the search reaches a document node that is at a root of the first branch, the first branch including a candidate node. The example method also includes in response to identifying the candidate node as sponsored media, parsing the sponsored media to generate monitoring information, and modifying a user agent setting to include a unique identifier.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2019Date of Patent: May 31, 2022Assignee: The Nielsen Company (US), LLCInventors: Thomas Sturm, Nicholas Naveen Rau, Ryan J. Publication number: 20220124163Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed to identify sponsored media in a Document Object Model. An example method includes determining if a first child node in a document object model is a sponsored media node, including to identify if the first child node is an element node, detecting if the first child node is of a valid element node type, and comparing the first child node to one or more geometric thresholds corresponding to the sponsored media node.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2021Publication date: April 21, 2022Inventors: Thomas Sturm, Nicholas Naveen Rau, Ryan J. Publication number: 20220088238Abstract: The system relates to an ultraviolet (UV) sanitization unit configured to detect and receive a beverage cup with a cradle portion of the unit. Once detected, the unit will shutter a door to prevent UV light from exiting the cradle portion and causing harm to users. Inside the cradle includes a plurality of UV emitter assemblies that are configured to continuously emit UV light when the unit is activated but to shutter the light from radiating into the cradle portion until the beverage cup is placed within the cradle. The beverage cup is placed in the cradle portion and the door is shuttered. The UV emitter assembly shutters are rotated to allow the UV light from the UV emitter assemblies to be incident upon the beverage cup. After irradiation for a predetermined time, the UV emitter assembly shutters are rotated to shutter the UV emitter assemblies, the door is un-shuttered, and the user removes the sanitized beverage cup.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 8, 2021Publication date: March 24, 2022Inventor: Jeremy Wade

Publication number: 20210334807Abstract: A payment processing device can implement a monitoring system to detect for tamper attempts at a chip card interface. The monitoring system can establish a baseline when no chip card is present in the chip card interface, or in some embodiments, when it is known that an authentic chip card 14 is present in the slot 21. During subsequent evaluations of the chip card interface by the monitoring system, a response received by the monitoring system that deviates from the baseline can indicate that a tamper attempt at the chip card interface may have occurred. If a tamper attempt is determined by the monitoring system, a remedial or corrective action can be taken.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2021Publication date: October 28, 2021Applicant: Square, Inc.Inventors: Afshin Rezayee, Malcolm Smith, Yue Yang, Jeremy Wade, Max Guise, Kamran Sharifi
