  • Patent number: 8246392
Abstract: An electrical cable connector comprising an electrically conductive central body, an outer sleeve rotatably coupled to the central body, and a tubular cam member disposed between the outer sleeve and the central body. When the outer sleeve is rotated around the central body from a first rotational position to a second rotational position, the tubular cam member is displaced from a first axial position to a second axial position, thereby causing a radial camming region in an axial through bore of the tubular cam member to displace fingers of the electrically conductive central body radially inwardly. In that manner, when the connector is plugged into a port or jack comprising a cylindrical body that is at least partially enclosed by the fingers of the central body of the connector, the fingers clamp onto the body of the port, thereby securing the connector to the port.

  • Patent number: 8235751
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a coaxial cable interface port locking terminator including an outer terminator housing and an inner connector body housed within the outer terminator housing. The coaxial cable interface port locking terminator further includes a ratcheting device in operable communication with the outer terminator housing and the inner connector body, the ratcheting device preventing rotation of the outer terminator housing with respect to the inner connector body when the outer terminator housing is rotated in the first direction, the ratcheting device including at least one separate component from the outer terminator housing and the inner connector body. Furthermore, rotation of the outer terminator housing in a second direction does not cause rotation of the inner connector body in the second direction.

  • Patent number: 8226435
Abstract: A coaxial cable connector includes an outer body having a first end and an opposing second end, an inner body having a first inner end and a second inner end, and a post interconnected with the inner body. A fastener portion is at the first end of the outer body. A compression sleeve is disposed to fit on the second inner end. The post, the inner body, and the compression sleeve are movable with respect to the outer body between a first position in which the connector is not mounted to an equipment port and a second position when the connector is mounted to the equipment port. When the fastener portion is mounted to the equipment port, an indicator portion on the compression sleeve is made visible to a user.

  • Patent number: 8177582
Abstract: Managing impedance in coaxial cable termination. In one example embodiment, a method for terminating a coaxial cable is provided. The coaxial cable includes an inner conductor, an insulating layer surrounding the inner conductor, an outer conductor surrounding the insulating layer, and a jacket surrounding the outer conductor. The method includes various acts. First, a section of the insulating layer is cored out. Next, the diameter of the inner conductor that is positioned within the cored-out section is reduced. Then, at least a portion of an internal connector structure is inserted into the cored-out section so as to surround the section of reduced-diameter inner conductor. Finally, an external connector structure is affixed to the internal connector structure. A coaxial cable termination tool for use in the termination of a coaxial cable and a terminated coaxial cable are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20120088405
Abstract: A compression connector for connecting to a coaxial cable is provided. The compression connector is provided in a first state for fitting onto an end of the cable, after which it may be compressed to a second state, thereby joining the connector to the cable to make a coaxial cable assembly. The connector is comprised of a tubular connector body and a compression cap structured to slidably engage the second end of the tubular body. The connector is further internally configured with means for collapsing the first exposed corrugation of the outer conductor of the coaxial cable in the axial direction when the compression cap is compressed onto the tubular connector body.
