Abstract: In some examples, a method to present an affordance user interface element within a user interface of an interaction application includes detecting an association of a supplemental media content item with a primary media content item presented within the user interface. The supplemental media content item is identified from among a plurality of supplemental media content items supported by the interaction application. The method may include retrieving metadata related to the supplemental media content item and presenting, within the user interface, a supplementation affordance that presents the metadata. In some examples, the supplementation affordance is user selectable via the user interface to invoke a supplementation function that enables a user to apply the supplemental media content item to a further primary media content item. The supplementation function is invoked responsive to detecting a user selection of the supplementation affordance within the user interface.

Abstract: A sender holds a first platform account with an interaction system. The sender selects a content item to be shared with a recipient. In response to determining that a recipient identifier of the recipient is not linked to a platform account, an off-platform communication is transmitted to a second user device associated with the recipient identifier. The off-platform communication is in an electronic format supported by the second user device and contains a user-selectable registration link. In response to detecting establishment of a second platform account linked to the recipient identifier, the recipient is enabled to access the content item on the second user device via a user interface provided by an interaction application. A relationship between the first platform account and the second platform account is established within the interaction system.

Abstract: Method of generating selectable items providing post-viewing context actions starts with a processor receiving a media content item with first media overlay from first client device. Processor causes an active notification associated with the media content item to be displayed on a notification user interface by a second client device. Processor receives a selection of the active notification from the second client device and in response to receiving the selection of the active notification, causes the media content item to be displayed by the second client device. The processor, in response to the media content item being displayed by the second client device, causes the second client device to display the notification user interface comprising an inactive notification and a first selectable item that is associated with the first media overlay. The program and method provide for receiving, by a first device of a first user, a media content item provided by a second device of a second user; determining, in response to receiving the media content item, a set of stickers for displaying with the media content item; and displaying, by the first device, the media content item together with a first reply interface and a second reply interface for sending a reply message to the second device. The first reply interface includes the set of stickers, each of which is selectable by the first user for sending to the second device. Abstract: A messaging system, which hosts a backend service for an associated messaging client, includes a voice chat system that provides voice chat functionality that enables users to dictate their messages, while delivering the resulting message to the intended recipient as both the associated audio and text content. When a user at a sender client device begins dictating a voice message, the voice chat system starts converting the received audio stream into text and, also, starts communicating the audio content together with the generated text to the recipient client device. The recipient user can listen to the voice message and read the text generated from the audio in real time. It is also possible for the recipient user to consume the voice message in a textual form only, if the sound at the client device is undesirable.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system for hiding conversation elements. The system accesses a conversation interface of a messaging application on a web browser and presents the conversation interface in a window associated with the web browser. The conversation interface comprises a plurality of conversation elements. The system accesses a focus status of the window and, in response to determining that the focus status indicates that the window has lost focus, obscures a first subset of the plurality of conversation elements.

Abstract: A user input content item is presented in a viewing interface of an interaction application executing on a user device. The user input content item is shared with a viewing user by a sending user via an interaction system. A press and hold operation by the viewing user related to the presentation of the user input content item is detected. Responsive to the detection of the press and hold operation, the interaction application is automatically transitioned to a reply state. Within the reply state, a reply mechanism is activated to enable the viewing user to generate a reply message to the sending user.

Abstract: The technical problem of creating an augmented reality (AR) experience that, on one hand, is accessible from a camera view user interface provided with a messaging client and that, also, can perform a modification based on a previously captured image of a user, is addressed by providing an AR component. When a user, while accessing the messaging client, engages a user selectable element representing the AR component in the camera view user interface, the messaging system loads the AR component in the messaging client. The AR component comprises a target media content object, which can be animation or live action video. The loaded AR component accesses a portrait image associated with a user and modifies the target media content using the portrait image. The resulting target media content object is displayed in the camera view user interface.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system for filtering conversations. The system generates for display, by a messaging application, a plurality of shortcut options, each of the plurality of shortcut options comprising a respective filtering criterion. In response to receiving input that selects a given shortcut option of the plurality of shortcut options, the system retrieves the filtering criterion associated with the given shortcut option. The system searches a plurality of conversations to identify a subset of conversations that match the filtering criterion. The system generates for display together with the plurality of shortcut options, a plurality of representations of the identified subset of conversations in which one or more messages have been exchanged between a user and one or more friends of the user.

The interaction zone further comprises a second interaction subzone positioned adjacent to the first interaction subzone in the lower section of the viewing user interface. The second interaction subzone is located inside of the content zone and includes a user-selectable context element. Responsive to detecting an interaction gesture directed at the interaction zone, the interaction application automatically transitions from a viewing state to an interaction state.
