  • Patent number: 8781441
Abstract: A system, a method and computer-readable media for handling a device that experiences a failure to complete a network's authentication process. Causes of the failure are determined, and device attributes are received. These causes and attributes are then used to determine an alternative authentication process. The device is authenticated by using this alternative authentication process.

  • Patent number: 8438627
Abstract: A system, a method and computer-readable media for establishing connectivity over a plurality of access technologies. A system is provided that includes a client device. The client device is configured to communicate over a network by utilizing at least two access technologies. The system also includes a gateway in communication with the client device. The gateway includes multiple access technology termination nodes configured to support communications utilizing multiple access technologies. The gateway also includes a registration manager configured to assign the client device an address for identifying the client device. The registration manager is further configured to maintain the address assigned to the client device when the client device switches from utilizing a first access technology to utilizing a second access technology.

  • Patent number: 8213423
Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for accounting for data transfer across a packet-switched network. A unique session identifier is generated at an accounting service node and provided to accounting nodes. Accounting nodes collect data transfer information corresponding to a session and associate the data transfer information with the unique session identifier. The data transfer information is provided to the accounting service node, which generates accounting records based on that information.

  • Patent number: 8200191
Abstract: A system, a method and computer-readable media for handling a device that experiences a failure to complete an authentication process of a network. The cause of the failure is determined. Authentication parameters that may be used by the device to complete the authentication process are then identified. The authentication parameters are communicated to the device, and the device is directed to reattempt the authentication process while utilizing the provided authentication parameters.

  • Patent number: 8180825
Abstract: Network services are provided to client devices based on the network traffic to be communicated between the device and the network. A number of home agents are configured to provide network services to mobile nodes. The system is configured in such a way that a mobile nodes may be served by more than one of the home agents. Thereby, for example, a certain mobile node may be provided one type of network traffic via one home agent and a different type of network traffic via another home agent.

  • Patent number: 8108569
Abstract: A system and method for transferring data flows, such as streaming video or audio signals, between end devices that are members of the same end device group is provided. A network examining module identifies end devices having an active data flow. A data session populating module populates a data store for an end device group identifying end devices having active data flows. A managing module determines which end devices are compatible for a data flow to be transferred. The data flow transferring module transfers the active data flow from one group member end device to another group member end device.

  • Publication number: 20080120428
Abstract: A method, system, and computer-readable media are provided for converting text-based messages to binary messages when communicating a Voice-Over Internet Protocol call. The method is able to convert unique text-based fields into binary representations in a manner that maintains the global uniqueness of the text-based filed while reducing its size. The method includes identifying a text-based field within a text-based protocol message, such that the text-based field is identified as having to be globally unique; compressing the text-based field into a binary representation using a hashing algorithm, wherein the binary representation is globally unique; and transmitting the binary representation of the text-based field to a recipient.
