The client device is configured to communicate over a network by utilizing at least two access technologies. The system also includes a gateway in communication with the client device. The gateway includes multiple access technology termination nodes configured to support communications utilizing multiple access technologies. The gateway also includes a registration manager configured to assign the client device an address for identifying the client device. The registration manager is further configured to maintain the address assigned to the client device when the client device switches from utilizing a first access technology to utilizing a second access technology.

Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for accounting for data transfer across a packet-switched network. A unique session identifier is generated at an accounting service node and provided to accounting nodes. Accounting nodes collect data transfer information corresponding to a session and associate the data transfer information with the unique session identifier. The data transfer information is provided to the accounting service node, which generates accounting records based on that information.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer-readable media are provided for converting text-based messages to binary messages when communicating a Voice-Over Internet Protocol call. The method is able to convert unique text-based fields into binary representations in a manner that maintains the global uniqueness of the text-based filed while reducing its size. The method includes identifying a text-based field within a text-based protocol message, such that the text-based field is identified as having to be globally unique; compressing the text-based field into a binary representation using a hashing algorithm, wherein the binary representation is globally unique; and transmitting the binary representation of the text-based field to a recipient.
