Patent number: 10496981Abstract: Peer-to-peer type communications are facilitated in a secure communication device. As consistent with one or more example embodiments, near-field communications are effected (150, 152) using a secure payment protocol conforming to a predefined certification standard for the secure payment protocol (100). Communication operability is transmitted (152) under the secure payment protocol and used to identify other protocols/applications under which communications can be effected. This information is used to effect P2P protocol communications (160), where applicable, and to do so while complying with the secure payment protocol.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2013Date of Patent: December 3, 2019Assignee: NXP B.V.Inventor: Jeremy Geslin

Patent number: 9673870Abstract: Near-field communications (NFC) with NFC reader devices are facilitated. In accordance with one or more embodiments, an apparatus includes a NFC circuit that wirelessly communicates with different types of local NFC readers using an NFC protocol, a host circuit having one or more modules that communicate with one of the types of local NFC readers via the NFC circuit, and second (e.g., secure) modules that respectively communicate with a specific one of the different types of local NFC readers, also via the NFC circuit, using secure data stored within the second module. A routing circuit is responsive to an NFC communication received from a specific one of the NFC readers, by identifying one of the first and second modules that communicates with the specific one of the NFC readers, and routing NFC communications between the specific one of the NFC readers and the identified one of the modules.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2016Date of Patent: June 6, 2017Assignee: NXP B.V.Inventors: Jeremy Geslin, Julien Marie, Xavier Kerdreux

Patent number: 9008575Abstract: A portable mobile communication device (10) has a mobile host processor (104) permanently installed in the portable mobile communication device (10) and a near field communication circuit (100) comprising a non-volatile memory (101). Configuration data is maintained in the non-volatile memory (101) of the near field communication circuit (100), for control of communication dependent on the configuration data. Prior to communication between the near field communication circuit (100) and the mobile host processor (104) a session identity value is tested. If the session identity value does not match a reference value, at least part of the configuration data for the communication channel is initialized, after which the session identity value and the reference value are equalized after setting up the configuration data. If the session identity value matches the reference value, the mobile host processor (104) proceeds with communication without said initialization.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2009Date of Patent: April 14, 2015Assignee: NXP B.V.Inventors: Giten Kulkarni, Ravindra Upadhyaya, Jeremy Geslin
