Publication number: 20200204901Abstract: Bone conduction headphones include a transducer and a neck band. The transducer is configured to convert an electrically provided audio signal into mechanical vibrations. The neck band includes a curved base section and two leg sections extending from the curved base section, providing a substantially U-shaped space to accommodate a listener's head between the two leg sections. The transducer is disposed on the neck band at a distal end of one of the leg sections, and the neck band applies a clamping force on the listener's head. The clamping force establishes a mechanical interface for transmission of the mechanical vibrations from the transducer to a cranial bone of the listener's head. The bone conduction headphones also include a clamping force adjuster enabling an adjustment of the clamping force of the neck band.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2018Publication date: June 25, 2020Applicant: Plantronics, Inc.Inventors: Bowman Wang, Terry M. Carr, Jeremy Jacob D'Ambrosio

Patent number: 10679472Abstract: A visual task or status indicator comprises a tube having a riser region extending away from a base and an illumination output region distal to the riser region. The tube has the tube wall comprising an optical diffuser material. A waveguide, such as a polycarbonate strand or other optical fiber or a bundle of optical fibers, is enclosed within and extends through the riser region into the illumination output region of the tube. The waveguide is configured to emit light laterally in the illumination output region. A light source is coupled to the waveguide. The light source can have a plurality of output light modes, including various colors or intensities or patterns of colors and intensities. Control circuitry is connected to the light source to select the output light modes in response to a control signal. A plurality of indicators can be controlled from a central control hub.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2018Date of Patent: June 9, 2020Assignee: Plantronics, Inc.Inventors: Jeremy Jacob D'Ambrosio, Chase Patrick Bailey

Patent number: 10553137Abstract: A display apparatus uses an LED array having an LED pixel pitch, having LED pixels emitting light with viewing angles ?. A transmissive diffuser panel is mounted with the LED array, having a directly-lit, diffuser panel surface spaced away from the LED array by an adjustable distance D. The distance D and the viewing angles ? being are effective to merge illumination from multiple LED pixels in the LED array on the directly-lit diffuser panel surface. A controller is connected to the LED array having circuitry to control the LED array in response to image data to induce display via the diffuser panel of a time varying image with spatially varying colors and intensities.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2018Date of Patent: February 4, 2020Assignee: Plantronics, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey Michael Larson, Jeremy Jacob D'Ambrosio, Jiefu Guo

Publication number: 20190208158Abstract: A display apparatus uses a LED array having a LED pixel pitch, having LED pixels emitting light with viewing angles ?. A transmissive diffuser panel is mounted with the LED array, having a directly lit, non-planar diffuser panel surface spaced away from the LED array by at least distance D. The distance D and the viewing angles ? being are effective to merge illumination from multiple LED pixels in the LED array on the directly lit diffuser panel surface. A controller is connected to the LED array having circuitry to control the LED array in response to image data to induce display via the diffuser panel of a time varying image with spatially varying colors and intensities.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 3, 2018Publication date: July 4, 2019Applicant: Plantronics, Inc.Inventors: Jeremy Jacob D'Ambrosio, Jiefu Guo, Jeffrey Michael Larson
