Publication number: 20230017935Abstract: A coffee grinder suitable for home use can include a housing that receives coffee beans, a grinding component within the housing, a removable container that receives coffee grounds dispensed from the grinding component, and a base located beneath the grinding component that supports the container. Magnetic components in the base and removable container can optimally align the container when placed atop the base. A knocker system can dislodge ground coffee residue into the container when actuated. An intelligent drive system can utilize feedback to drive the grinding component at a constant speed to minimize coffee grounds size variances. A grinds chamber in the housing can define an asymmetrical cross-sectional geometry. An augur that drives the grinding component can have an outer thread that forces coffee beans through the grinds chamber, and a grinds chamber housing can include a protective shoulder that covers a lead-in portion of the outer thread.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2020Publication date: January 19, 2023Inventors: Jeremy Kuempel, Jake Miller

Publication number: 20220387656Abstract: An apparatus for disinfecting an air space is presented. The apparatus includes a housing having a front surface, a back surface, a top surface, a bottom surface, a first end, and a second end. A light emitting diode is inside the housing and configured to emit ultraviolet radiation, at least 90% of which has a wavelength less than 280 nm, in a direction away from the housing into surrounding space. Circuits inside the housing control the light emitting diode to emit radiation at different intensity levels including zero. Motion sensors may be coupled to the circuits to turn the light emitting diode on and off and modulate the intensity of radiation that is emitted, thereby avoiding exposing occupants of the space to harmful radiation.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2022Publication date: December 8, 2022Inventors: Jeremy Kuempel, Thomas Carlson, Sivan Sud, Wiley Wang, Neil Day, Ashley Lynn Miller, John Cody Semones

Patent number: 11497343Abstract: A beverage press is described which includes a pressure-activated valve in a pressurized brewing chamber. The pressure-activated valve opens when pressure within the chamber rises above a cracking pressure. A filter in the brewing chamber may filter out solids while passing liquids out of the pressure-activated valve. In some embodiments, a high-pressure beverage filter assembly is disclosed which is configured to mate to a beverage press. Also disclosed is an integrated beverage press incorporating a high-pressure beverage filter assembly and features of a beverage press in a single unit.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 2018Date of Patent: November 15, 2022Assignee: Blossom Coffee, Inc.Inventor: Jeremy Kuempel

Publication number: 20170367518Abstract: A beverage system includes a housing and a brew basket associated with the housing. The brew basket includes a brew chamber. A pressurization system is associated with the brew chamber. The pressurization system is selectively operable to increase a pressure within the brew chamber to control a rate at which a fluid passes through the brew chamber to an outlet formed in said brew basket.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 27, 2017Publication date: December 28, 2017Inventors: Joshua D.
