  • Publication number: 20240198445
Abstract: Some examples of the present disclosure relate to welding systems that provide cooling gas flow to contact tips. The contact tip may be retained within a neck and nozzle assembly of a welding torch that receives gas, such as shielding gas, for example, from the welding system. A tip retention-device and gas diffuser may cooperate to retain the contact tip within the neck and nozzle assembly. The gas diffuser may have axial gas channels configured to direct the shielding gas over and/or across a rear portion of the contact tip seated within the gas diffuser. The tip retention device may have gas channels configured to guide gas flow from the gas diffuser over and/or across a forward portion of the contact tip. The gas flow may help to cool the contact tip before, during, and/or after welding, which may extend the life of the contact tip.

  • Publication number: 20210354227
Abstract: Some examples of the present disclosure relate to apparatus, systems, and/or methods for providing a quick connect and/or disconnect for a gas diffuser and/or neck assembly, for example, in a welding system. The gas diffuser may include threaded grooves and/or protrusions configured to engage with screw threads and/or channels of the neck assembly. The screw threads, protrusions, threaded grooves, and/or channels may be configured such that the gas diffuser may be quickly connected to, and/or disconnected from, the neck assembly.

  • Patent number: 10328515
Abstract: A welding gun includes a gun assembly including a handle having a cable receiving end and also a connecting end. The connecting end includes a tubular end fitting having female threads proximal to the connecting end, and also having an aperture adjacent the female threads. A neck assembly includes a body tube having a welding end and also a connecting end. The connecting end of the body tube is telescopically engageable with the tubular end fitting. The connecting end of the body tube includes an annular recess inwardly spaced from a terminus of the connecting end, and also includes a locking nut and male threads engageable with the female threads. The locking nut and male threads are disposed adjacent the annular recess away from the terminus. A stop is fitable in the aperture and extends into the annular recess in an assembled disposition of the gun.
