  • Publication number: 20060060030
Abstract: A composite circular saw blade. In an exemplary embodiment, a circular saw blade includes a body generally circular in shape including an aperture and an outer periphery. The aperture being generally defined in the center of the body and configured to be at least partially received by a circular saw arbor body. Further, a plurality of teeth are disposed around the outer periphery of the body for providing a cutting edge. The body is formed of a composite material, the composite material including two or more structurally complementary substances in which one of the two or more structurally complementary substances is a matrix material.

  • Patent number: 7013784
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting materials and more specifically an improved saw blade includes a plurality of variable teeth thereon. The variable tooth saw blade cuts faster and smoother while reducing harmonic vibrations. Specifically, the teeth on the saw blade are grouped into sections with differing circumferential widths and differing spacing between the sections.

  • Publication number: 20050053441
Abstract: A router bit with a position stop is disclosed. The router bit includes a body with a collar extending outwardly from it and a shaft extending outwardly from the collar. At least one cutter blade is mounted to the body and the cutter blade may be used to cut a profile into a workpiece. The collar has a first diameter, the shaft has a second diameter and the first diameter is larger than the second diameter. The collar has a face formed a spaced distance or height from the transition point between the collar and the body. The face rests against the upper surface of a chuck when the shaft is secured in the chuck. This allows the body and hence the cutter blades to be held a predetermined distance above the upper surface of the chuck. A second router bit may be provided to cut a complimentary second profile in a second workpiece.

  • Publication number: 20040244558
Abstract: A vibration dampener for a circular saw blade includes a concave, disc-shaped dampening plate having a recessed area within the concavity and an annular shock absorber seated in the recessed area and projecting outwardly from the dampening plate. The dampening plate and shock absorber each abut a side of the saw blade, the abutment of the dampening plate being adjacent its perimeter. The dampener is radially weight-balanced about a transverse axis around which the dampener and blade rotate.

  • Publication number: 20040096281
Abstract: A cutter bit includes a body formed integrally with a mounting shank. The body defines a pair of chip boxes with two planar surfaces and a cutting knife mounted to one of the planar surfaces of each chip box. The body defines holes from the chip boxes to the outer surface of the body, said holes communicating with grooves formed along the outer surface of the body such that a continuous air passage is formed circumferentially around the body by each hole and respective groove. The air passages cool the cutter bit as well as quickly remove material chips from the cutting edge and workpiece. The rapid removal of the chips also allows a better view of the cutting edge and the workpiece. The lack of material in the holes and grooves reduces cutter bit weight, allowing use with smaller motors and reducing the loads associated with cutting operations.
