  • Patent number: 8387060
Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable medium are disclosed for automatically allocating resources to a virtual machine. Expected workload profile data and application utilization data corresponding to a software application associated with a virtual machine (VM) is collected by an application profiling agent. Resource utilization data corresponding to the utilization of resources associated with the execution of the software application is collected by a system resource monitor. The expected workload profile data, the application utilization data, and the resource utilization data are then processed to determine a virtual machine workload class, which is then used to determine a corresponding VM policy. Data associated with the VM policy then processed to generate VM resource allocation instructions, which are in turn processed to provision the VM.

  • Patent number: 8154569
Abstract: A modular display system and method assembles an external interface module with a display module to support built-to-order display configurations. The display module has display panel, timing controller and speaker components assembled in a display module housing that accepts a single LVDS and a single audio interface. The external interface module couples to the display module housing to form an integral display system. Selective assembly of the display system from plural types of external interface modules allows selective configuration of the display system with various television and information handling system display functionalities, such as to fill a purchaser order in a build-to-order manufacturing process.

  • Publication number: 20100115510
Abstract: An information handling system is disclosed that is configured to execute multiple virtual machines simultaneously. The information handling system can assign graphical processing resources to each virtual machine based on the estimated workload for each machine. In addition, the information handling system can change the amount of graphical resources assigned to each virtual machine in response to changing workload estimations.

  • Patent number: 7103189
Abstract: An audio amplifier configuration for a personal computer system optimizes performance in both the single-ended mode and the bridged mode. In a single-ended mode, as when the computer system user receives audio through headphones plugged into an external jack, a jack sense line is activated that switches into operation a power supply that is optimized for single-ended audio operation. In the bridged mode, as when the computer user receives audio from the system's internal speaker, operation is such that the audio amplifier is supplied by a power source optimized for operation in a bridged mode. In general, single-ended operation dictates that the audio amplifier power supply exhibit substantial noise immunity characteristics; whereas bridged-mode operation requires that the power supply be capable of supplying more demanding peak voltage and current excursions.

  • Publication number: 20040205403
Abstract: Hardware component performance in an information handling system is detected with an integrated acoustic power spectra sensor that can be used for diagnostics analysis. The acoustic power spectra data is compared to acoustic models for operative drives to determine an acoustic pass/fail criteria, or to provide more sophisticated analysis of the drive performance, including specific drive failure conditions or impending drive failure conditions.

  • Publication number: 20020159607
Abstract: An audio system that automatically customizes equalization and gain of sound based on sound type includes a controller coupling together a digital audio source, a digital equalizer, equalization coefficient database, and source information database. The digital equalizer receives a digital audio signal from the digital audio source. The digital audio source contains digital audio media containing a number of sound selections and transmits a sound selection header to the controller. The controller transmits the sound selection header to the source information database. The source information database provides a sound type corresponding to the sound selection header to the controller. After receiving the sound type from the source information database, the controller transmits the sound type to the equalization coefficient database.
