Patent number: 11388666Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium provide a false grant detection service. An end device may receive downlink control information when in a discontinuous reception active state. The downlink control information may include a new downlink transmission grant or a new uplink transmission grant. When downlink data pertaining to the new downlink transmission grant is unsuccessfully decoded, the end device may identify the new downlink transmission grant as a potential false grant and invoke a verification procedure. Depending on the result of the verification procedure, the end device may or may not start a discontinuous reception inactivity timer depending on whether the potential false grant is deemed a false grant or a valid grant. Similarly, the end device may invoke a verification procedure for a new uplink transmission grant. The detection of false grants may minimize the waste of power for the end device.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2020Date of Patent: July 12, 2022Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Xin Wang, Nanjun Qian, Lily Zhu, Jeremy Nacer, Nischal Patel

Patent number: 11337044Abstract: A device obtains a list of a plurality of user devices from a first network device and receives a message intended for a destination user device from a second network device. The device obtains information indicating that the destination user device can receive messages that conform to a particular format from a third network device and converts the message to the particular format. The device determines a reachability of the destination user device based on the list of the plurality of user devices, after converting the message, and sends the message to the destination user device via the first network device based on the reachability. The device receives a delivery message from the destination user device and sends a notification message indicating successful delivery of the message to the second network device based on the delivery message.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2020Date of Patent: May 17, 2022Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Ye Huang, Kalyani Bogineni, Sudhakar Reddy Patil, Miguel A. Patent number: 11134441Abstract: A device may receive signal information associated with a wireless signal or charge information associated with a charge level. The signal information may indicate a signal strength of the wireless signal. The charge information may indicate the charge level of a battery of the device. The device may determine whether the signal strength or the charge level satisfies a threshold. The device may configure a parameter or a setting of the device to cause the device to operate according to a long term evolution (LTE) category based on determining whether the signal strength or the charge level satisfies the threshold. The LTE category may be different from a default LTE category of the device and may define an uplink/downlink capability specification. The device may attach to a network in association with configuring the parameter or the setting to cause the device to operate according to the LTE category.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2019Date of Patent: September 28, 2021Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Jeremy Nacer, Christopher M.
