    Abstract: An automatic brightness control provides automatic compensation for the effects of ambient light on a display. A microprocessor interfaced to ambient light sensors, pilot selected brightness controls and a harmonization gain potentiometer, implements a control program and outputs a raster gain signal. A video signal is multiplied with the raster gain signal therefore producing a cathode voltage that provides the automatic compensation.
