Patent number: 11452819Abstract: A medication delivery device with a sensing system to determine at least one of a dose set and a dose delivery. The sensing system is operable to detect relative rotational positions of first and second members of the device which are indicative of at least one of an amount of a dose set and an amount of a dose delivered by operation of the device, and generate outputs correlated to such relative rotational positions. The system includes a wiper coupled to the first member, and a sensing band coupled to the second member for physically contacting the wiper as the second member rotates relative to the first member. A controller electrically communicates with the sensing system to determine, based on the generated outputs of the sensing system, at least one of the amount of the dose set and the amount of the dose delivered by operation of the device.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2017Date of Patent: September 27, 2022Assignee: Eli Lilly and CompanyInventors: Uri Eliezer Baruch, James Angus Boonzaier, Xorge Castro Pelayo, Matthew James Clemente, Jeremy Peter Clements, James Alexander Davies, Robert Eugene Trzybinski

Patent number: 10028531Abstract: An aerosol-generating system is provided, including an aerosol-generating device in cooperation with an aerosol-generating article. The article includes a first sealed compartment having a tubular porous element and a delivery enhancing compound sorbed thereon; and a second compartment having a volatile liquid. The device includes an outer housing adapted to receive the article; an elongate piercing member for piercing the first and second compartments. The elongate piercing member includes a piercing portion adjacent a distal end of the elongate piercing member; a shaft portion; and an obstructing portion adjacent a proximal end of the elongate piercing member. The piercing portion has a maximum diameter greater than the diameter of the shaft portion, and the obstructing portion has an outer diameter such that it fits within the tubular porous element of the article when the article is received in the device. A corresponding aerosol-generating device and aerosol-generating article are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2014Date of Patent: July 24, 2018Assignee: Philip Morris Products S.A.Inventors: Jeremy Peter Clements, Patrick-Charles Silvestrini, Alexandre Malgat

Publication number: 20160286928Abstract: A hair styling apparatus comprising a pair of closable jaws (20,22) to engage a user's hair. Said jaws (20,22) have complementary shapes with, a first said jaw (20) defining a curved ridge and a second said jaw (22) defining a curved recess. One or both of said jaws (20,22) includes a heater such that, when said jaws are closed, hair is heated in a heating region (16) between the ridge of said first jaw (20) and the recess of said second jaw (22). Said second jaw (22) has a curved longitudinal surface having an active cooling region (14). A transverse cross section through said second jaw (22) defines at least one S-shaped curve having a forward curve into which said ridge of said first jaw (20) fits, and a linked reverse curve bearing said active cooling region (14) on which hair may be cooled and curved. Said heating region (16) is located on said forward curve; and said active cooling region (14) is located on said reverse curve.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 12, 2014Publication date: October 6, 2016Inventors: Robert Alexander WEATHERLY, Daniel BRADY, Steve SAYERS, Mark Andrew GAGIANO, Timothy David MOORE, Paul SCOTT, Jeremy Peter CLEMENTS, James BAKER, Paul Edwin LEWIS

Publication number: 20120312458Abstract: We describe a peel and present mechanism (10) for use with labelling apparatus such as a label stock cartridge or cassette, or a label printer. The peel and present mechanism is configured to peel labels (18) from label stock (14) having a backing liner (16). The mechanism comprises a first, label stock carrying face bounded by a label-detachment edge (12,20) wherein, in use, said label stock passes in a longitudinal direction over said label stock carrying face and around said label-detachment edge (20) to peel and present labels (18), and wherein said label stock carrying face has a bent transverse surface profile (24) in a transverse direction perpendicular to said longitudinal direction such that, in use, said label stock is bent in said transverse direction whereby, as said label stock passes over said-label detachment edge, said longitudinal direction of said label stock defines a projected path for a label peeled from said label stock by said label-detachment edge.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 11, 2010Publication date: December 13, 2012Inventors: Kevin Andrew Auton, Michael Andrew Beadman, Jeremy Peter Clements
