  • Publication number: 20240100324
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a device capable of high efficiency DNA electrotransfer into cells via a single capacitive discharge. The principle of this system relates to the storage of a quantum of charge on a capacitor which is then discharged through an electrode array configured to produce an electric field having electric field potential gradients focused through a region by the array configuration and of sufficient in strength for efficient electrotransfer of DNA into cells. This DNA, or related ribonucleic acid molecules or indeed other charged molecules, upon entering the cells, can affect changes in biological function.

  • Publication number: 20220054827
Abstract: A system and method of controlling electrotransfer delivery of therapeutic molecules to targeted groups of cells. The system has an array of two or more physically contiguous electrodes configured to be inserted into biological tissue and a pulse generator configured to selectively drive the two or more electrodes as one or more anodes and one or more cathodes for application of electrical pulses. The physical configuration of the electrodes, selection of electrodes and anodes and cathodes, and applied electrical pulse parameters, control contours of gradients within the electric field for the target treatment region adjacent the array. A first selection of electrodes to drive as anodes and cathodes using one or more electric pulses is determined, and or the selected electrodes, electrical pulse parameters for one or more electric pulses to generate a first shaped electric field for a target treatment region adjacent the array are determined.

  • Patent number: 11213671
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an electroporation system comprising an electroporation probe having at least two contiguous electrodes configured to be inserted into biological tissue for electroporation treatment, and a pulse generator electrically connected to the probe and configured to drive the electroporation probe using a sequence of one or more electric pulses to cause current transmission through the probe and induce a non-uniform electric field in the biological tissue proximate the probe electrodes. Treatment tissue can be targeted by controlling the probe configuration, carrier solution characteristics and parameters of the electroporation pulse sequence to achieve predictable electroporation outcomes. This electroporation control method can also reduce potentially toxic effects of electroporation treatment.

  • Patent number: 11013917
Abstract: The present invention relates to improved methods for transfecting one or more cells within a target region with an agent by electroporation. The method comprises exposing one or more cells to the agent and to a close electric field created between an anode or anode array and a cathode or cathode array in the target region for sufficient time to allow at least some of the agent to enter said one or more cells.
