    Abstract: The present invention provides crosslinked polyester compositions for use in coating metal. The polyester comprises residues of at least one aromatic acid; 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediol and at least one polyol different than 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediol wherein the polyester has a glass transition temperature greater than 75° C., an acid value of 1 mg KOH/g to 6 mg KOH/g, and a number average absolute molecular weight of 4000 g/mol to 18000 g/mol. The compositions are useful for coating metal surfaces for food contact applications and are particularly useful for coating metal can ends.
