  • Patent number: 6036282
Abstract: An electrical power generating system for a railcar to provide power for electrically driven accessories on the railcar which includes a generator driven by an air motor, wherein free air to the air motor is derived from air operating the braking system on the railcar, and particularly air that is exhausted to the atmosphere during braking operations.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 31, 1998
Date of Patent: March 14, 2000
    Assignee: Zeftron, Inc.
Inventors: Bryan J. Clarke, Jeremy S. Waldrop
  • Patent number: 6024419
Abstract: A pneumatic railcar braking system for freight or passenger cars, wherein the system is operable as an electronically controlled pneumatic brake system in conjunction with a head end unit in the locomotive or as a conventional pneumatic brake system in conjunction with a pneumatic brake control in the locomotive.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 16, 1999
Date of Patent: February 15, 2000
    Assignee: Zeftron, Inc.
Inventors: Jeremy S. Waldrop, Bryan J. Clarke
  • Patent number: 5924774
Abstract: An electronic pneumatic brake system for trains which significantly improves brake cylinder pressure build-up time and facilitates essentially instantaneous and simultaneous braking on all cars of the train. The electronic pneumatic brake system includes electronic pneumatic control valves on the cars which individually control the braking on each car or a pack of cars and which are regulated by an electronic pneumatic controller on each car that receives electronic braking and release signals by way of wireless communication from an electronic head end unit on the lead locomotive, or where no head end unit is provided in the locomotive, receives pneumatic braking signals through the brake pipe.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 12, 1996
Date of Patent: July 20, 1999
    Assignee: Zeftron, Inc.
Inventors: James M. Cook, Jeremy S. Waldrop
  • Patent number: 5777547
Abstract: A car identification and ordering system for trains which identifies each car in the train, the order of those cars, the total number of cars in the train, and the identification of the last car in the train. The car identification and ordering system may work in conjunction with an electronic pneumatic brake system on a train or can work independently of an electronic pneumatic brake system.
    Type: Grant
