  • Patent number: 8108796
Abstract: An embodiment generally relates to a method of operating a device. The method includes receiving at least one character of a sequence for a default application on a user interface of a device and determining at least one other task supported by the device based on the at least one character sequence. • Publication number: 20090053997
Abstract: A method for providing a user interface for a device (300) includes determining a capability of a remote device, selectively enabling at least one of a plurality of different control structures (404, e.g., 302, 310, etc.), each with corresponding visual indication (406) of connectivity status based on a connection occurring and determined capability of the remote device. The method may also include selectively enabling a second control structure (404, e.g., 302, 310, etc.) of the plurality of different control structures, the second control structure also with corresponding visual indication (406) of connectivity status. The method may also include selectively disabling at least one of the plurality of different control structures (404, e.g., 302, 310, etc.) with corresponding visual indication (406) of connectivity status based on a change in a connection status. Furthermore, a device 300 may implement the disclosed methods.

  • Publication number: 20080130910
Abstract: Disclosed is a user interface of a headset that is situated on one or both sides of the headset. The disclosed user interface on two sides of the headset includes two touch-sensitive surfaces that are configured to detect certain gestural motions. The surfaces can detect sliding motions as well as pressure points. Grouping of gestures and movements may provide memory cues for users to remember which side of the headset to use for certain functions. In one embodiment, a first user interface that is situated on one side of the headset can provide communication controls. A second user interface that is situated on the other side of the headset can provide audio controls. In another embodiment, a user interface including a touch-sensitive surface is configured to detect up to six user inputs. Accordingly, two touch-sensitive surfaces may achieve the same amount of control as six buttons.

  • Patent number: 6978136
Abstract: A method (900) and a wireless device (120) for establishing a communication interface for a communication session are described herein. In a communication system, a wireless device (120) may receive presence information associated with a first party. Operated by a second party, the wireless device (120) may generate a notification to alert the second party. The notification may correspond to the presence information associated with the first party. Based on the presence information, the wireless device (120) may provide the communication interface for the communication session between the first and second parties.
