Abstract: A system for searching and ranking modifiable videos in a multimedia messaging application (MMA) is provided. In one example embodiment, the system includes a database configured to store modifiable videos, the modifiable videos being associated with text messages and rankings, a processor, and a memory storing processor-executable codes, wherein the processor is configured to implement the following operations upon executing the processor-executable codes: receiving, via the MMA, an input of a user; selecting, based on the input, a list of relevant modifiable videos from the database; rendering, via the MMA, the list of relevant modifiable videos for viewing by the user; determining that the user has shared, via the MMA, a modifiable video from the list; storing an information concerning the list and the shared modifiable video into a statistical log; and updating, based on the information in the statistical log, the rankings of the modifiable videos in the database.

Abstract: An avatar notification system is disclosed, which performs operations that include: causing display of a notification at a client device associated with a first user account, the notification including an identification of a second user account; receiving an input that selects the notification from the client device; presenting a composition interface at the client device in response to the input that selects the notification, the composition interface including a display of a media element that comprises a first identifier associated with the first user account and a second identifier associated with the second user account; receiving a selection of the media element from the client device; and generating a message that includes the media element in response to the selection.

Abstract: A method for operating a messaging system for sending modifiable videos including a self-image of a user is provided. The method includes providing a face outline to assist with taking the self-image. Instructions relating to a light level, a facial expression, a face position, and a face size may be provided to the user. A smile measurement is displayed to enable the user to adjust the current smile level to a target smile level. A stock video may be created using an actor wearing a mask and facing a video camera. The mask is a marker for insertion of the self-image. The stock video is uploaded to a database of stock videos and, after selection by a user, is combined with a self-image to form a personalized video.

Abstract: A system for customizing soundtracks and hairstyles in modifiable videos is provided. In one example embodiment, the system includes a memory storing processor-executable codes and a processor configured to receive a modifiable video and a user image including a facial image and a hair image; analyze the facial image and the hair image to determine at least one hair property, determine whether the hair image is modifiable, and determine modifications to the at least one hair property; modify the at least one hair property to generate a modified hair image; generate a further image including the modified hair image and the facial image; and generate, based on the further image and the modifiable video, a personalized video that includes at least a part of the further image and at least a part of the modifiable video.

Abstract: A method for operating a messaging system is provided. The method is adapted to send and receive modifiable videos and includes receiving, by a computing device, a first authorization from a user to use a self-image of the user in a personalized video. The method also includes receiving, by the computing device, a second authorization from the user to enable use of another self-image of another user in the personalized video. The method further includes sending, by the computing device, after the first and second authorizations have been received, the personalized video including at least part of the self-image of the user, at least part of the other self-image of the other user, and at least part of a stock video. A system and a non-transitory processor-readable medium for operating a messaging system adapted to send and receive modifiable videos are provided.

A conversation view is displayed on a touch screen display of a client device. The conversation view presents messages exchanged between a first user and at least one other user in an electronic chat conversation. A user input comprising a touch gesture corresponding to an interaction with the display of the conversation view is received. Based on the user input, a camera feed view is displayed on the touch screen display. The camera feed view comprises a display of image data and enables a user to create a message comprising one or more images.
