Publication number: 20240122427Abstract: A filter arrangement for a vacuum cleaning appliance includes: a filter enclosure having an enclosure opening; a filter configured to be received through the enclosure opening into the filter enclosure in an insertion direction; and retention means operable between latched and unlatched states for releasably retaining the filter in the filter enclosure. The filter includes an actuation portion configured to operate the retention means, wherein the actuation portion is moveable between at least first and second positions and is biased towards the second position. When the filter is in the filter enclosure, movement of the actuation portion in the insertion direction from the first position to a depressed position transitions the retention means to the unlatched state, whereinafter the actuation portion is moved to the second position in which at least a part of the actuation portion is elevated above the enclosure opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2021Publication date: April 18, 2024Applicant: Dyson Technology LimitedInventors: Jacob DYSON, Mark Timothy SHADDICK, Karl Alan JOLLY, Ketan PATEL, Taylor Teck Hui LIM, Jeremy William CROUCH, Miles Sinclair QUANCE

Patent number: 10750916Abstract: A cyclonic separator comprising a cyclone chamber defined between an outer wall and a shroud. The shroud comprises an inlet opening through which fluid enters the cyclone chamber, and a plurality of perforations through which fluid exits the cyclone chamber. Fluid within the cyclone chamber is then free to spiral about the shroud and over the inlet opening.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2018Date of Patent: August 25, 2020Assignee: Dyson Technology LimitedInventors: James Dyson, Jeremy William Crouch, James Stuart Robertson, Peter David Gammack, Simon Edward Ireland

Publication number: 20190200825Abstract: A dirt separator that includes an inlet; an outer wall defining a first dirt collection chamber of a first separation stage; an inner wall defining a second dirt collection chamber of a second separation stage; at least one rib extending from the inner wall into the second collection chamber; and a closure member hingedly connected to the dirt separator and movable between a closed position for sealing open ends of both the first and second dirt collection chambers and an open position for escape of dirt from the open ends. The closure member comprises a seal for sealing against the inner wall when the closure member is in the closed position, and the at least one rib has an end edge that is inclined such that the seal rides along the end edge and onto the inner wall as the closure member is closed.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 26, 2018Publication date: July 4, 2019Applicant: Dyson Technology LimitedInventors: Jeremy William CROUCH, Mark Paul FOULGER
