    Abstract: The present technology includes medical treatment systems having patient-specific interbody implants and patient-specific positioning guides. The patient-specific interbody implant can be specifically designed to permanently occupy a first target location in the patient, and the patient-specific positioning guide can be specifically designed to temporarily occupy a second target location in the patient. Both the patient-specific interbody implant and the patient-specific positioning guide can be coupled to the same inserter instrument at a predetermined spatial orientation such that when the patient-specific positioning guide is positioned at the second target location, the patient-specific interbody implant is automatically directed into the first target location. Methods for designing and manufacturing patient-specific implants and positioning guides are also described herein.

    Abstract: A spinal fusion system includes an intervertebral implant. The intervertebral implant has a fusion body configured to contact endplates of adjacent vertebrae and an instrument coupler. The instrument coupler is detachably couplable to an inserter instrument. When the inserter instrument extends through the instrument coupler and contacts the fusion body, the intervertebral implant is rigidly coupled to the inserter instrument. When the inserter instrument is spaced apart from the fusion body, the fusion body is rotatable relative to the inserter instrument while the instrument coupler holds the inserter instrument.

A subset of the plurality of reference patient data sets is selected based, at least partly, on similarity to the patient data set and treatment outcome of the corresponding reference patient. Based on the selected subset, at least one surgical procedure or medical device design for treating the patient is generated. The surgical procedure or medical device design can be generated based at least partially on one or more parameters associated with a reduced risk of one or more post-operative conditions.
