    Abstract: An electronic locking differential assembly includes a ring gear including at least one bore formed therein. An electronic actuation mechanism is positioned behind the ring gear on one side of the ring gear. A retaining ring includes a notch formed thereon on an outer circumference of the retaining ring. A portion of the electronic actuation mechanism is disposed in the notch. A lock plate is positioned on a side of the ring gear opposite the electronic actuation mechanism. The retaining ring includes a bore formed therein and a fastener disposed in the bore. The fastener is coupled to the retaining ring and passes through the at least one bore of the ring gear. The fastener is coupled to the lock plate wherein the electronic actuation mechanism is axially connected to the lock plate selectively locking and unlocking the differential.

    Abstract: A differential assembly includes an outer differential carrier and a differential case disposed in the outer differential carrier. A ring gear is attached to the differential case using fasteners. An electronic actuation mechanism locks and unlocks the differential assembly. The electronic actuation mechanism includes a stator positioned in a stator housing and an armature. A wire harness is connected to the stator supplying electrical power to the stator. A wire guide is attached to the stator housing. The wire guide includes an attachment section attached to the stator housing and an anti-rotation section. The anti-rotation section contacts the outer differential carrier. The anti-rotation section includes a wire receiving portion positioning the wire harness in an area away from the ring gear and fasteners. A removable cover is attached to the differential assembly, the removable cover is positioned about the electronic actuation mechanism and wire harness.

    Abstract: A torque transfer assembly for a motor vehicle comprises a ring gear subassembly and a differential subassembly rotatably supported in said ring gear subassembly, a friction clutch pack for coupling the ring gear subassembly to the differential subassembly, and a hydraulic clutch actuator for selectively frictionally loading the clutch pack. The hydraulic clutch actuator includes a variable pressure relief valve assembly to selectively control the friction clutch pack. The variable pressure relief valve assembly includes a valve closure member, a valve seat complementary to the valve closure member, and a electromagnetic actuator for engaging the valve closure member and urging thereof against the valve seat with an axial force determined by a magnitude of an electric current supplied to the electromagnetic actuator so as to selectively vary a release pressure of the pressure relief valve assembly based on the magnitude of the electric current.
