  • Patent number: 11323922
Abstract: When a user equipment is roaming in a visited network, mid-call handover from VoWiFi to VoLTE is controlled by policies enforced in the user equipment and the home network. An inter-operator policy and a subscription policy are stored in the home network and a user equipment policy is stored in the user equipment. The roaming user equipment registers in a visited network. Later, when mid-call handover to VoLTE on the visited network is desired, and also permitted by its user equipment policy, the user equipment sends a request containing a call-specific identifier which the responsible network entity in the home network compares with the registered handover parameter having regard to the inter-operator and subscription policies. If compliance with the policies is found, then the mid-call handover is proceeded with.

  • Patent number: 10314101
Abstract: Apparatus configured to operate as a WAC of a WAN. The apparatus comprises a database unit, a transceiver, and a resource request processor. The database unit maintains a database of a plurality of user equipment (UEs) connected to the WAN, resource usage by each of the UEs, and available resources of the WAN. The transceiver communicates with a gateway between the WAN and a telecommunications network. The resource request processor receives a resource request from the gateway, the resource request identifying a UE and indicating a required change in resource usage; and determines whether the required change in resource usage is possible based on the available resources of the WAN. If the required change in resource usage is possible, the resource request processor updates database records for resource usage by the UE and available resources of the WAN and sends a resource response to the gateway.

  • Publication number: 20190141094
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for implementing a Home Subscriber Server, HSS, (102, 200) a Serving Call Session Control Function, S-CSCF, (110, 300) and an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem Application Server, IMS AS, (112, 400) in an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem, IMS. The HSS comprises multi-subscription data for a user with a plurality of devices (100a, 100b, 100c). The multi-subscription data comprises a private identifier assigned for each of the plurality of devices and a common set of one or more public identifiers associated with each private identifier assigned for each of the plurality of devices. The S-CSCF transmits to the HSS a message for assigning a server in the IMS to a device. The HSS determines, based on a private identifier and multi-subscription data in the message, a multi-subscription indicator indicating whether the received private identifier is related to a multi-subscription. The HSS transmits a response to the received message comprising the multi-subscription indicator.

  • Patent number: 9906652
Abstract: In accordance with certain embodiments, disclosed herein is a method for shifting charges. The method includes receiving a request for a communication session between at least two endpoints. The request comprises a charging preference that indicates a request for a shift in at least a portion of the charges associated with the communication session. The method further includes transmitting a message to a charging system indicative of the request for the shift in charges based on the charging preference. The method additionally includes determining whether to establish the communication session between the at least two endpoints or to reject the communication session between the at least two endpoints. The method also includes, based on the determination, facilitating in the establishment of the communication session or the rejection of the communication session.

  • Publication number: 20180048655
Abstract: The invention relates to a method, by a subscriber database entity (200), to handle a request for subscriber information for a data packet session of one of the subscribers. The subscriber database entity comprises a storage unit (230) storing information about subscribers to a mobile communications network. The method comprises the following steps: receiving a first request for subscriber information for said one subscriber from an application server entity which provides a service to the data packet session, the first subscriber request including service information about the service provided to the data packet session; transmitting, in response to the received first request a second request for information about said one subscriber to at least one of a subscriber authentication entity (110). The subscriber authentication entity (110) is configured to authenticate the subscriber and to provide location information of the subscriber and a mobility entity (90).

  • Patent number: 9294344
Abstract: A media gateway controller (MGC) is described herein that implements a shared risk group package to control and prevent a media gateway (MG) from establishing redundant links like a primary link and a secondary link that use resources that share the same risk of failure. Essentially, the MGC uses the shared risk group package to control which resources like ephemeral terminations are used by the MG to establish the primary link and the secondary link such that if any of the resources associated with the primary link fail then the secondary link remains operational within the MG and if any of the resources associated with the secondary link fail then the primary link remains operational within the MG.

  • Publication number: 20100131621
Abstract: A method of operating a Session Controller is provided. The Session Controller communicates with a client (40) and comprises a signalling proxy (10) and a media proxy (20), the Session Controller being latched to a media plane address and port. The method comprises: detecting, at the signalling proxy, that the client is changing or has changed its IP address and/or port to a different address and/or port; instructing the media proxy to monitor for incoming media from the client of an address and/or port different from the address and/or port that the media proxy has been using previously as the address and/or port of the client; and if any media is received by the media proxy of such a different address and/or port, using said different address and/or port as destination address and/or port for media from the media proxy to the client. A corresponding Session Controller, and a signalling proxy and a media proxy for use in such a Session Controller are also disclosed.
