  • Patent number: 10492014
Abstract: Audio objects that are present in input audio content in one or more frames are determined. Output clusters that are present in output audio content in the one or more frames are also determined. Here, the audio objects in the input audio content are converted to the output clusters in the output audio content. One or more spatial error metrics are computed based at least in part on positional metadata of the audio objects and positional metadata of the output clusters.

  • Publication number: 20190327575
Abstract: A system and method of modifying a binaural signal using headtracking information. The system calculates a delay, a first filter response, and a second filter response, and applies these to the left and right components of the binaural signal according to the headtracking information. The system may also apply headtracking to parametric binaural signals. In this manner, headtracking may be applied to pre-rendered binaural audio.

  • Patent number: 10425763
Abstract: In some embodiments, virtualization methods for generating a binaural signal in response to channels of a multi-channel audio signal, which apply a binaural room impulse response (BRIR) to each channel including by using at least one feed-back delay network (FDN) to apply a common late reverberation to a downmix of the channels. In some embodiments, input signal channels are processed in a first processing path to apply to each channel a direct response and early reflection portion of a single-channel BRIR for the channel, and the downmix of the channels is processed in a second processing path including at least one FDN which applies the common late reverberation. Typically, the common late reverberation emulates collective macro attributes of late reverberation portions of at least some of the single-channel BRIRs. • Patent number: 10277997
Abstract: Example embodiments disclosed herein relate to audio signal processing. The audio signal has multiple audio objects. A method of processing an audio signal is disclosed. The method includes obtaining an object position for each of the audio objects; and determining cluster positions for grouping the audio objects into clusters based on the object positions, a plurality of object-to-cluster gains, and a set of metrics. The metrics indicate a quality of the cluster positions and a quality of the object-to-cluster gains, each of the cluster positions is a centroid of a respective one of the clusters, and one of the object-to-cluster gains defines a ratio of the respective audio object in one of the clusters. The method also includes determining the object-to-cluster gains based on the object positions, the cluster positions and the set of metrics; and generating a cluster signal based on the determined cluster positions and object-to-cluster gains.

  • Publication number: 20190035410
Abstract: Encoding/decoding an audio signal having one or more audio components, wherein each audio component is associated with a spatial location. A first audio signal presentation (z) of the audio components, a first set of transform parameters (w(f)), and signal level data (?2) are encoded and transmitted to the decoder. The decoder uses the first set of transform parameters (w(f)) to form a reconstructed simulation input signal intended for an acoustic environment simulation, and applies a signal level modification (?) to the reconstructed simulation input signal. The signal level modification is based on the signal level data (?2) and data (p2) related to the acoustic environment simulation. The attenuated reconstructed simulation input signal is then processed in an acoustic environment simulator. With this process, the decoder does not need to determine the signal level of the simulation input signal, thereby reducing processing load.

  • Publication number: 20180295464
Abstract: Diffuse or spatially large audio objects may be identified for special processing. A decorrelation process may be performed on audio signals corresponding to the large audio objects to produce decorrelated large audio object audio signals. These decorrelated large audio object audio signals may be associated with object locations, which may be stationary or time-varying locations. For example, the decorrelated large audio object audio signals may be rendered to virtual or actual speaker locations. The output of such a rendering process may be input to a scene simplification process. The decorrelation, associating and/or scene simplification processes may be performed prior to a process of encoding the audio data.
