  • Publication number: 20060252450
Abstract: A set of power control step size increments are determined such that at least two step size increments differ from one another. The set is sent to a Mobile Station MS. A first power command to the MS informs of a first power for a uplink data transmission on a radio resource (E-DPDCH). To change power on the same radio resource, an offset is computed, the set of step size increments is accessed to determine which one, or combination of them, yield the offset, and the MS is informed of the second power by a second message that identifies those elements of the set that alone or in combination yield the offset. The MS determines the second power as a function of the first power and the step size increment(s) from the second message.

  • Publication number: 20060178112
Abstract: A communication flow for HSUPA is shown that allows a NodeB to measure the thermal plus background noise level (Prx—noise), and at the same time which also allows the RNC, according to its own (centralized) strategy, to overwrite the very same value that is then used in NodeB (de-centralized) scheduling.

  • Publication number: 20060172739
Abstract: To prevent oscillation of the load on a radio interface between a user equipment device and a base station of a non-serving cell scheduled in a decentralized way by a base station of a serving cell, a centralized control action is performed by a radio network controller to reduce load congestion on the radio interface in the non-serving cell. Oscillation in load might otherwise exist over the radio interface due to the decentralized scheduling trying to maintain a high degree of load in all cells combined with independent control action by the non-serving cell to reduce the load congestion.

  • Publication number: 20050138528
Abstract: A method, system and transmitting side protocol entity is disclosed for sending packet data units for unacknowledged mode services in a mobile communication network. A retransmission parameter is set to a desired value in order to prevent retransmission of packet data units in a handover situation. The transmitting side acknowledged mode radio link control entity purges from the retransmission buffer based on status reports from a user equipment The packet data units that have been acknowledged by user equipment. A status report includes the sequence number of the highest packet data unit expected by the user equipment, and therefore the status report indicates the sequence number of the radio link control packet data units that have been received at the user equipment (either correctly or incorrectly). All the remaining packet data units in the retransmission buffer are scheduled for transmission and transmitted to the new node.

  • Publication number: 20050036462
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method and system for avoiding unnecessary handovers, relocations and/or anchoring during packet calls in a wireless telecommunication system. Data to be sent to a mobile terminal is stored in a data buffer. The data is sent to the mobile terminal when the amount of data in the buffer exceeds a predetermined threshold value. When a relocation or anchoring request is received, relocation or anchoring is performed only if one or more conditions are fulfilled. The conditions are preferably timers or adaptive thresholds. In a preferred embodiment, anchoring is performed only if a first timer has expired and relocation is performed only if the first and the second timers have both expired. When a handover is done, it triggers either anchoring or relocation. Therefore, the present invention lowers the number of handovers needed, and thus the number of anchoring and relocation cases.

  • Publication number: 20040202129
Abstract: A first and second network nodes and system for sending data to a new network node in a mobile communications network is provided. In terms of a WCDMA network, when a handover is triggered, data blocks have to be sent to a new Node B from the RNC instead of the old Node B. The invention describes a solution for estimating which data blocks are sent to the new Node B. In the method, a timer is set for each one or more data blocks to be sent to a mobile terminal. When a handover is triggered, the RNC estimates based on the timer values which data blocks have already been transmitted via the present Node B to the mobile terminal. Only data blocks, which are estimated as not being sent to the mobile terminal, are transmitted from the RNC to the new Node B.

  • Publication number: 20040120306
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for scheduling data packets in a base station device of an access network. An information indicating a re-transmission status of a data packet is provided to the base station device, and a scheduling priority is allocated to the data packet based on the retransmission status information. Thereby, retransmission packets can be scheduled earlier and round trip times can be reduced, so as to decrease the risk of timeouts and stalling and to loosen buffer requirements.

  • Publication number: 20040122969
Abstract: According to the present invention the use of a delayed acknowledgment procedure of TCP in a communication network system arranged to transport TCP/IP packets is controlled. A burstiness of received TCP packets transmitted in the communication network system from an entity to a device is monitored and it is decided whether the monitored burstiness meets a predefined condition. On the basis of the decision result the delayed acknowledgment procedure is enabled or disabled.

  • Publication number: 20040052234
Abstract: The present invention relates to mobile telecommunication systems. The present invention overcomes the problem of unnecessary retransmissions over the air interface. These transmissions waste the capacity of the air interface. In a preferred embodiment, a Discarding TCP Packets (DTCPP) entity is added to the PDCP layer. The DTCPP entity has the knowledge of the correspondence between the PDCP sequence numbering and the TCP segments sequence numbering correspondence. Further, the DTCPP entity has the knowledge of which TCP segments have been successfully received by the TCP-UE. This knowledge can be gained reading the TCP acknowledgements at the UL PDCP, where the sequence number of the correctly received byte is stated. The present invention describes a method and system for avoiding multiple transmissions of the same TCP segment.
