  • Patent number: 6905226
Abstract: A high efficiency heat-dissipating dome lamp utilizes convex centralized optics and tiered venting to house concurrently inwardly canted compact fluorescent lights, ballast for the lights, and an emergency ballast system.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 5, 2003
Date of Patent: June 14, 2005
Inventors: Jerold A. Tickner, Donald J. Booty, Jr.
  • Patent number: 5823073
Abstract: A tool (20) for manipulation of a tubular fluorescent lamp (22) has a backplane (30), a coupler (32) for attachment to an external extension pole (36), a lamp gripper (38), a lamp extractor (44), and an extraction endpiece (50). The coupler (32) has a mechanism for angular adjustment (34). The lamp gripper (38) has a segmental cylindrical structure (40) with a non-slip inner surface (42) and an inner diameter generally coincident with that of the lamp (22). The lamp extractor (44) has an extraction extension (46) and an extraction stud (48) at the end of the extension (46). The Extraction endpiece (50) has an endcap (52) intended to fit over an end of the lamp (22) and an engagement fork (54) with which to engage the extraction stud (48).

  • Patent number: 5809850
Abstract: A tool (20) for manipulation of a compact fluorescent lamp (24) has a body (28) and a lamp holder (30). The body (28) has a coupler (32), for attachment to an extension pole (22), and a base (36), coupled to the coupler (32). The body (28) also has a detent (42) for attachment to the lamp holder (30). The lamp holder (30) is removably attached to the body (28). The lamp holder (30) has a baseplate (46) with a central opening (48) of a shape and size intended to admit a compact fluorescent lamp bulb assembly (44). The baseplate has a collar (50) with at least one protuberance (54) configured to engage the detents (42) on the body (28). The collar (50) has a plurality of grippers (52) axially extending therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5377086
Abstract: A lighting system employs luminaires having reflectors with a fluorescent lamp support frame at the base end of the inside of the reflector. The support frame includes a plurality of extensions for holding the bases of compact fluorescent lamps arranged in a general star configuration around the center line of the reflector. The extensions are at an angle to cause the compact fluorescent lamps to follow the outwardly-flared inside surface of the reflector. A system of luminaires then provides a substantially uniform volume of light in a facility due to the patterns of overlapping light contributed by the individual luminaires.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 25, 1993
Date of Patent: December 27, 1994
    Assignee: Sportlite, Inc.

  • Patent number: 5197798
Abstract: A conversion replacement apparatus for HID screw-in mercury vapor, metal halide or high or low pressure sodium lamps utilizes the reflector typically employed with such lamps. The HID lamp is removed from the reflector. A fluorescent lamp support frame then is attached to the base end of the inside of the reflector to extend to a point substantially one-fourth to one-half of the distance between the base end and the light-emitting end of the reflector. The support includes a plurality of extensions for holding the bases of compact fluorescent lamps arranged in a general star configuration around the center line of the reflector. The extensions are bent at an angle to cause the compact fluorescent lamps to follow the outwardly-flared inside surface of the reflector. Ballasts for the lamps are located in a housing attached to the base end of the reflector.
