  • Patent number: 8739938
Abstract: A brake component for retarding a rotor includes a wearable friction segment having a thickness, wherein the friction segment is configured to be pressed into contact with the rotor. The brake component also includes a first resistive sensor having an electric resistance and a feature determinative of the electric resistance. The first resistive sensor is mounted on the friction segment and includes an electric connection for communication with an external device. The feature is configured to wear along with the friction segment thereby increasing the electric resistance of the first resistive sensor. A braking system employing the friction brake component to retard rotation of a wheel and for decelerating a motor vehicle is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20070168285
Abstract: Systems and methods for neutralizing unauthorized attempts to monitor user activity are described. In one embodiment, a system includes a detection module configured to detect an attempt to receive a message that is related to a protected application program. The system also includes a neutralization module configured to set a hook to neutralize the attempt.

  • Publication number: 20070108882
Abstract: An incandescent light source finds particular use in a lamp having a reflector as provided. The light source comprises an elongated envelope having a major axis and a filament secured therein such that a major axis of the filament is parallel or offset from the major axis of the envelope. A first fin is secured to the elongated envelope which supports the envelope against vibrations. A base is also connected to the light source. The base includes a body, two leads, a flange extending radially from the body, a projection extending axially from the flange, and a twist lock construction capability comprising lugs that defines a fiducial plane for setting the focal point of the incandescent light source. To connect the base to the envelope, the projection is dimensioned to extend through an aperture of the reflector then rotated to engaging the reflector thereby securing the base to the reflector.

  • Patent number: 6007524
Abstract: An improved incontinence fluid collection and disposal system consisting of a flexible fluid reservoir assembly mounted in an opening in a reusable brief is presented. The brief is either adjustable or one piece but in either case holds the fluid reservoir assembly snugly against the body to restrict fluid leakage. An adhesive layer, normally in the form of a gasket and affixed to a flange on an inlet end of the fluid reservoir assembly, can be used to hold the fluid reservoir in position against a layer in the brief. Additional gasket layer(s) in the form of other materials can also be utilized. The fluid reservoir assembly is, in its preferred embodiment, supplied with a gelatin agent to gelatinize the urine to make for easy removal and disposal. A bactericidal agent is supplied as part of the fluid reservoir assembly to prevent infections. An optional feature is a valve in the fluid reservoir assembly to which a collection tube can be attached for long term drainage.
