  • Patent number: 7286555
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of allocating resources in the uplink of a wireless communication network supporting real-time packet data services by utilizing a centralized resource allocation module and a plurality of radio terminals. The method includes generating data blocks at the radio terminals and transmitting them as frames to the resource allocation module. The frames include an indication of the number of data blocks stored in a data queue of the radio terminal and the number of data blocks being generated by the data block source. The resource allocation module allocates resources to each radio terminal based on the indication transmitted by each radio terminal.

  • Publication number: 20060029022
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for selecting another access network when transmitting data from a content server to a terminal in a multi access network environment comprising a discontinuous coverage radio access network. According to the present invention, the method comprises the step of: Upon detection of a request from a network selection controller to switch from a discontinuous coverage radio access network to another access network, sending a message to an access controller of said discontinuous coverage radio access network comprising cached data informing it to forward said cached data to said another access network.

  • Publication number: 20050050433
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of decoding a received data word (r) having been transmitted over a radio communication channel, the corresponding sent data word (m) having been encoded as a code word (c), the method comprises the steps of multiplying of the received data word by a parity-check matrix, and if the result of the multiplication is zero: performing an algebraic decoding of the received data word without error correction, otherwise performing an error correction by estimating the transmission error, subtracting the estimated error from the received data word, and performing an algebraic decoding of the result of the subtraction, wherein for estimation of the transmission error R.H? is used to identify an approximate location of potential errors and the Viterbi algorithm is only applied for these locations, thus avoiding iterations in error-free areas.

  • Publication number: 20040253960
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for transmitting signaling information between an access point and a terminal of a multi-carrier radio communication network, said signaling information comprising information related to the different sub-carriers (and being transmitted on one predefined sub-carrier) according to the present invention, the method comprises the steps of performing a de-correlation transformation on said signaling information by exploiting the correlation between at least two sub carriers and applying an entropy compression on said de-correlated signaling information.

  • Publication number: 20020031119
Abstract: The invention relates notably to a method for assigning resources in a shared channel of a communication network comprising a master station and a plurality of slave stations communicating with the master station over the shared channel. The master station sends transmit authorizations to the slave stations authorizing them to transmit at least a traffic packet on the shared channel. A slave station may have inactivity periods during which it has no traffic packet to transmit. A maximum time interval between two transmit authorizations, called activity time interval, is ensured during non inactivity periods for each slave station.
