  • Publication number: 20040009164
Abstract: In the serum, PSP94 occurs as a free form or is associated with a carrier protein. PSP94 in its bound form has been quantified in the blood of prostate cancer patients and these measurements have shown utility as evaluation of prognosis. The present invention identifies a carrier protein to which PSP94 is bound (named PSP94-binding protein) its purification process, its nucleic acid and amino acid sequence and to the use of these sequences in the diagnosis and prognosis of PSP94 related disease. More particularly, the present invention discloses improved diagnostic and prognostic assays as well as reagents useful for the evaluation of conditions linked with abnormal or elevated levels of PSP94, such as prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia.

  • Patent number: 6673273
Abstract: Electrolyte compositions for use in cells and batteries that include a crosslinked solid ionically conductive polymer having urethane groups, urea groups, thiocarbamate groups, or combinations thereof, particles, and a salt. Certain electrolyte compositions include a liquid thereby forming a gel electrolyte composition.

  • Publication number: 20030137117
Abstract: A ski for a vehicle for slidably engaging a surface to be traversed. The ski includes a longitudinally extending runner having a forward portion, a rearward portion and a middle portion therebetween, the forward and rearward portions having a wider lateral width than the middle portion. The forward, rear and middle portions form an hourglass shape, generally. One or more skis may be adapted to a vehicle that includes a frame, a rear drive means for propelling the vehicle along a surface to be traversed and the one or more skis may be attached to a front portion of the frame for slidably engaging the surface to be traversed.

  • Publication number: 20020184059
Abstract: Systems consistent with the present invention implement provide information regarding savings associated travel alternatives. Such systems receive requests from users reflecting travel itineraries, respectively. Each itinerary is analyzed to determine a set of alternative itineraries comparable to the travel itinerary specified in the request based on selected rules associated with travel. Then a value or cost of the input travel itinerary is determined and a value for each of the alternative itineraries is also calculated. The systems then generate a report reflecting the input travel itinerary specified in the request, each of the alternative itineraries, the value for each travel itinerary, and a difference between the value for the travel itinerary specified in the request and each of the alternative itineraries.

  • Publication number: 20020161295
Abstract: An improved system and method for detecting dislodgement of an implantable medical device (IMD) such as a catheter or lead is disclosed. The system includes means for generating multiple, orthogonally-related signals within a body. For example, three current signals having a current path substantially oriented in the X, Y, and Z directions may be generated within the body. The invention further includes an IMD having an affixation device such as a helix at a distal tip for attachment to body tissue, and at least two sensing devices to sense the signals generated within the body. The difference in signal levels between two of the sensing devices may be measured. For example, a voltage potential difference created by the currents within the body may be measured between two electrodes. This measured signal level has components in the X, Y, and Z directions, and may therefore be used to define a directional vector in three-dimensional space. This vector is indicative of the orientation of the IMD.
