  • Patent number: 4464271
Abstract: Described are liqiud or solid fabric softener compositions of matter which effect a continuously high fragrance intensity release from the cloth or fabric treated with same, evenly and uniformly over an extended period of time and which can be adapted to yield differing aromas from a qualitative and quantitative standpoint in a controllable manner containing a mixture of (i) a non-confined fragrance composition; (ii) one or more fragrance oils which are physically entrapped in one or more types of solid particles and (iii) a suspending agent such as hydroxypropyl cellulose, silica, xanthan gum, ethyl cellulose or combinations of the previously mentioned four substances; the non-confined fragrance substance, the entrapped fragrance oil and the suspension agent being premixed prior to the subsequent creation of the liquid or solid fabric softener compositions of matter.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 7, 1984
Assignee: International Flavors & Fragrances Inc.

  • Patent number: 4453909
Abstract: Apparatus for making a tablet of soap containing a perfume-containing core, hollow or solid, fabricated from a hard plastic material, either thermosetting or thermoplastic. Soap from the resulting composite tablet is usable until the core is washed clean and is aromatized until the core is washed clean. This obviates the wastage of soap which normally occurs as a conventional soap tablet becomes very thin on use and, at the same time, gives rise to a continuously aromatized soap tablet.

  • Patent number: 4449987
Abstract: Described are candle compositions which may be opaque or transparent or pastel shaded which are adapted to incorporate compositions which are both perfumes and insect repellents, without flashing during burning, such compositions comprising as the basic components a mixture of (a) a hydrocarbon wax or (b) a thermoplastic polyamide resin formed from linoleic acid polymerized with a polyamine compound taken together with an alkanol amide or alkanol amine and a stearic acid compound or (c) a straight chain aliphatic amide in combination with light mineral oil and alcohol; compositions (a), (b) or (c), supra, taken further together with a mixture containing:From 1-30 parts by weight of a methyl heptenone; From 1-10 parts by weight of coumarin; andFrom 0.4-15 parts by weight of indole;taken alone or taken together with a perfume composition substantially inactive from an insect repellent standpoint.

Also described is a process for preparing said tablet of soap.

  • Patent number: 4428869
Abstract: Described are hydro-alcohol compositions of matter including, but not limited to, colognes, after-shave lotions, after-bath preparations and splash lotions, which yield continuously high fragrance intensity release, evenly and uniformly over an extended period of time and which can be adapted to yield differing aromas from a qualitative and quantitative standpoint in a controllable manner containing a mixture of (i) a non-confined fragrance composition; (ii) one or more fragrance oils which are physically entrapped in one or more types of solid particles and (iii) a suspending agent such as hydroxypropyl cellulose, silica, xanthan gum, ethyl cellulose or combinations of the previously mentioned four substances; the non-confined fragrance substance, the entrapped fragrance oil and the suspension agent being premixed prior to the subsequent creation of the hydro-alcohol compositions of matter.

  • Patent number: 4184099
Abstract: Bodies which are formed compositions of Versalon.RTM. type polyamide resin containing from about 35% up to about 70% by weight of highly volatile materials such as perfumes, odorants, insecticides, bactericides, and animal repellents which are able to act in a very diluted vapor state in the air for relatively long periods of time, are described. The highly volatile substances are released in a controlled manner over a long period of time. The molecular weight of the resin is between 9,000 and 12,000, and its softening point varies from 120.degree. C. up to 400.degree. C. In addition, articles are described incorporating said composition and, as part of the instant invention, a light bulb coated with a toroidal article which consists essentially of said composition, is included. The method of our invention comprises heating Versalon.RTM. polyamide resin (Note 1) having a molecular weight of from 9,000 up to 12,000 until it is pourable and stirrable, e.g., to a temperature of between 120.degree. C. and 400.

  • Patent number: 4168550
Abstract: A detachably affixable and refillable attachment for a flush tank toilet is disclosed which produces a cleanser and/or sanitizer and/or deodorant and/or aromatizing solution with the water stored in the flush tank and which produces an emission into the atmosphere surrounding the flush tank of an aromatizing and/or deodorizing substance for discrete time periods during each flushing cycle without the use of complicated appurtenances, such as aerosol spray cans. The attachment is substantially contained within the flush tank of the toilet and is actuated in response to the level of the water in the tank.
