  • Patent number: 4620488
Abstract: An improved serving tray according to the teachings of the present invention is disclosed as including a window abutting element which is laterally positionable allowing a window abutting edge to abut with and fulcrum on the outside surface of the window to compensate for variations of the angle of the window to allow the serving platform of the serving tray to be horizontal. The window abutting element is laterally positionable by slideably mounting it to the bottom surface of the serving platform. In its most preferred form, the window abutting element is slideably mounted by arms extending generally parallel to and spaced from the rear legs of the serving tray. The window abutting element is held in one of multiple positions by teeth formed on the bottom surface of the serving platform and formed on the window abutting element.

  • Patent number: 4524512
Abstract: Nestable, stackable cutlery is shown according to the teachings of the present invention in the form of spoons, forks, and knives. The cutlery includes handle portions, of generally identical construction, and food operational and engagement portions. The handle portions in the preferred embodiment have a U-shaped cross section allowing the outside surface of a first piece of cutlery to be received within the inside surface of a second piece of cutlery. The cutlery further includes nesting and stacking lugs for supporting the handle portion of the second piece of cutlery along its entire length on the handle portion of the first piece of cutlery. In their most preferred form, the lugs include an inverse tapered inner surface for holding onto a punch of an injection mold during fabrication.

  • Patent number: 4103736
Abstract: An apparatus for heating food items while retaining the moisture and nutritional aspects of the food wherein a food item to be warmed or heated is placed in a container having a removable lid or cover which is placed within an enclosure which is refrigerated and which includes means for heating the container. As the food is heated the container wall and cover are subjected to the cooling effect of the refrigeration system whereby any moisture driven off from the food item through heating of the food condenses on the surface of the cooled wall and lid of the refrigerated container to flow back to the food item being heated. Nutritional items are retained in the food item being heated by the presence of a moist atmosphere and its cooling effect above the food item.

  • Patent number: 4005745
Abstract: An apparatus for storing, refrigerating and heating food items on a single tray in a single environment including a tray having at least one opening therein and a container together with means for positioning the container on the tray in alignment with the opening. A rack for the tray and a heater carried by the rack in alignment with the opening in the bottom of the tray when the tray is mounted on the rack, the heater being substantially in contact with the bottom of the container, which raises the container free of the tray to form an air barrier between the container and the edge of the opening in the tray, together with means for refrigerating the rack to refrigerate items on the tray, and means for selectively actuating the heater to heat food in the container while other food on the tray remains refrigerated.
