  • Patent number: 7722399
Abstract: A connector system including a header connector with a header body having an internal surface and an external surface. A plurality of first openings and a plurality of second openings extend from the internal surface to the external surface of the header body. A plurality of signal pins are inserted into the plurality of first openings to form an array of pin contacts extending from the internal surface of the header body. A plurality of shield blades are inserted into the plurality of second openings. Each of the plurality of shield blades has at a first end thereof a generally right angle shielding portion configured to be disposed adjacent to a corresponding signal pin. The first ends of the plurality of shield blades are substantially coplanar with the internal surface of the header body.

  • Publication number: 20080020649
Abstract: An electrical connector has a housing that includes a mating end defining a first connector relief segment opposite a second connector relief segment and a first connector projection segment opposite a second connector projection segment. At least one male contact extends from a face of the first connector relief segment and at least one male contact extends from a face of the second connector relief segment. At least one female contact is formed in a face of the first connector projection segment and at least one female contact is formed in a face of the second connector projection segment. In this regard, the mating end is configured to align and mate with a mating end of a second substantially identical electrical connector.

  • Patent number: 7101224
Abstract: Disclosed herein are backplane interconnect systems that use surface mount technology for mating conductive pins in a header connector to surface mount pads on a printed circuit board. In particular, the interconnect system uses a plurality of conductive pins that are not fully inserted into the body of the header connector, thus allowing them to move during mating with a printed circuit board. In this way, the interconnect system exhibits self-leveling characteristics.

  • Patent number: 7090501
Abstract: A connector system includes a circuit board having a plurality of holes extending therethrough. First and second connector bodies, each having a front wall, are positioned on first and second sides of the circuit board, respectively. The front walls of the connector bodies have a plurality of signal pin openings aligned with the circuit board holes. A plurality of signal pins extend through the signal pin openings of the first and second connector bodies and through the circuit board holes. At least one of the plurality of circuit board holes has a diameter larger than a diameter of the signal pin extending therethrough, such that walls of the at least one circuit board hole are spaced apart from the signal pin extending therethrough.

  • Patent number: 5193269
Abstract: An extraction tool is provided for extracting an electronic circuit component. The tool includes an outer jaw assembly having a top plate and at least two outer legs coupled to the top plate defining an interior region therebetween. An inner jaw assembly is located in the interior region. The inner jaw assembly includes a bottom plate and at least two inner legs coupled to the bottom plate for engaging the chip. The apparatus also includes a slide collar slidably coupled to the outer and inner jaw assemblies. The collar is movable between a first position to permit the outer and inner legs to be inserted over the chip and a second position to lock the outer and inner legs in a predetermined engaging position relative to the chip. The apparatus further includes a mechanism for moving the inner jaw assembly relative to the outer jaw assembly when the collar in its second position to extract the chip. The length of the legs of the tool is selected to permit extraction of both large and small profile chips.
