The UE may attempt to detect synchronization signals, including Long Term Evolution (LTE) synchronization signals from eNBs, New Radio (NR) synchronization signals from gNBs, and sidelink synchronization signals (SLSSs) from other UEs. The UE may prioritize an LTE synchronization signal over an SLSS, and may prioritize an NR synchronization signal over an SLSS. If the UE does not detect an LTE synchronization signal or an NR synchronization signal, the UE may select an SLSS. The UE may prioritize an SLSS from a UE that is directly synchronized to an eNB or a gNB over an SLSS from another UE that is indirectly synchronized to an eNB or a gNB.

The IMS circuitry may receive an SIP invite from an IMS server to invite the UE to engage in a mobile terminated (MT) call. The UE process the bandwidth indication and identifies, based on the codec awareness indication, a first codec from a plurality of codecs supported by the UE. The UE then configures with the eNB using data encoded with the first codec. This data may, for example, be Voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE) data or other such media data. Selection of the codec or associated codec information may be further based on the codec awareness indication.

    Abstract: Uplink (UL) data splits between LTE and WLAN can be go supported in cellular networks. The split can be UE controlled or network controlled. Both UE and network controlled bearer split architectures can be supported. The reporting of Uplink Buffer Status (BSR) and the subsequent data allocation can depend on what option is supported by the network. For UE controlled UL data splits, the UE determines a traffic split ratio between LTE and WLAN. The split can be based on local link conditions. For network controlled UL data splits, the network (e.g. a Link Aggregation Scheduler at the eNB) is responsible for making bearer split decisions. The decisions can be based on link qualities, available traffic and quality of service (QoS) requirements of associated users. The split can be based on a per bearer threshold, an eNB configured ratio, or an implicit inference based on a UL grant.

    Abstract: Systems and methods of segregating a SDF of a PDU session are described. The UE transmits a NAS message to the network. The NAS message indicates the SDF, the desired QoS, and a segregation indication that requests that the network establish a separate QoS flow for the SDF even if an existing QoS flow is able to support the specific QoS. The SF decides whether or not to establish the separate QoS flow and updates filters in the UPF as well as providing a response to the UE containing a similar indication. The UE modifies resources related to the PDU session based on the response. The QoS is indicated as a 5QI and GBR or as a QFI of an existing QoS Flow on which the SDF is to be added if the separate QoS is not established. The QFI is in an unencrypted SDAP header of the NAS message.
