  • Patent number: 4610727
Abstract: A record member comprising a developer composition comprising a zinc-modified addition product of a phenol and a diolefinic alkylated or alkenylated cyclic hydrocarbon is disclosed. These addition products are particularly useful as color developers for basic chromogenic material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 5, 1985
Date of Patent: September 9, 1986
    Assignee: Appleton Papers Inc.
Inventors: Jerome R. Bodmer, Robert E. Miller

    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 23, 1984

Inventors: Jerome R. Bodmer, Robert E. Miller
  • Patent number: 4470058
Abstract: A two-coat record sheet material is disclosed. This record sheet material comprises a base coat comprising an oil-soluble phenol-formaldehyde novolak resin and a topcoat comprising substantially nonreactant pigment material, but no color developer material. The nonreactive topcoat eliminates the accumulation of contaminants on the fuser roll of copier/duplicators produced by prior art record sheet material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 28, 1982
Date of Patent: September 4, 1984
    Assignee: Appleton Papers Inc.
Inventors: Jerome R. Bodmer, John H. Peters
  • Patent number: 4165103
Abstract: A method of making zinc-modified phenol-aldehyde novolak resins for use as a color-developing agent in pressure-sensitive record sheet material involving the addition of certain dry particulate zinc compounds and an ammonium carboxylate to the melted resin. Specifically, a phenol-formaldehyde resin is reacted with zinc oxide or zinc carbonate and ammonium formate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 31, 1978
Date of Patent: August 21, 1979
    Assignee: NCR Corporation
    Inventor: Jerome R. Bodmer
  • Patent number: 4165102
