  • Publication number: 20190262367
Abstract: The invention provides compositions, methods, and diagnostics for the treatment of metabolic syndromes. In an additional aspect of the invention, compositions and methods of treatment are calibrated to mimic the ileal brake response resulting from surgical intervention, e.g. RYGB, to control metabolic syndrome manifestations and thereby reverse or ameliorate the cardiovascular damage (atherosclerosis, hypertension, lipid accumulation, and the like) resulting from progression of metabolic syndrome. Combination medicaments that act synergistically on the ileal brake and the manifestations of metabolic syndrome are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8367418
Abstract: The invention provides a method for determining a suitable drug combination for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes by obtaining data from a Type 2 diabetes population in which all of the Type 2 diabetics are not taking any Type-2 diabetes drugs and obtaining reference levels of glucose supply and insulin demand parameters. Data from discrete samples of Type 2 diabetes populations in which all individuals are being treated with one or more Type 2 diabetes drugs at a therapeutic dose are also obtained, and the effects of the drugs on the glucose supply and insulin demand parameters are used to determine adjustment factors which represent the effect of each of the drugs at the therapeutic dosage, which are used to determined a ratio of a Glucose Supply Index (S) to an Insulin Demand Index (D). The ratio is further utilized in scoring cardiovascular risks for Type 2 diabetics and recommending therapeutic interventions.

  • Patent number: 7326387
Abstract: Air decontamination devices in one example include a filter directly exposed to ultraviolet (“UV”) radiation on an upstream side and a downstream side. Ozone may be provided to permeate the filter, as well. Reflectors may be provided to reflect UV radiation emitted in a direction away from the filter, towards the filter. The filter may be a V-bank filter, for example. Air sampling ports and prefilters may be provided. The air decontamination units may be used to decontaminate the air after industrial and medical contaminations and terrorist biological, chemical and radiological attacks, for example. Mobile isolation units, and methods of decontaminating rooms, are disclosed, as well.
