  • Patent number: 10257556
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for determining whether a client device is authorized to receive media content based at least in part on the call signs of broadcast stations that the client device is able to receive. A computing device receives a broadcast station identifier and a program identifier from a client computing device. The computing device determines that the client computing device is authorized to access media content identified by the program identifier based at least in part on the broadcast station identifier. Finally, the computing device streams the media content to the client computing device in response to determining that the client computing device is authorized to access the media content.

  • Patent number: 10194189
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments that facilitate playback of content via multiple display devices. Playback may be synchronized among multiple display devices and/or auxiliary content rendered by a companion device may be synchronized to playback of content by a primary device. A server device receives a request from a first client device to commence a playback of a content feature upon an identified second client device. The server device sends an instruction to the second client device to commence the playback of the content feature upon a display of the second client device in response to the request. Status updates regarding the playback may be provided to the first client device by the server device.

  • Patent number: 9973732
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to methods, apparatuses, and systems for facilitating video communications between users in environments including a plurality of imaging devices. For example, an environment can include first and second imaging devices having associated fields of view providing multiple perspectives of a user. Upon initiating a video communication session, a network device can receive image data from the imaging devices to determine an identity of a user. A user profile of the user can include preferences for the communication, such as device selection, zoom selection, audio selection, subject framing, and the like. Further, the network device can utilize machine learned algorithms to determine an optimal view of the user for the video communication based on the fields of view associated with each imaging device. The network device can intelligently add users to a communication session and provide output to devices to provide a seamless videoconferencing experience.

  • Publication number: 20180007449
Abstract: The playback of video content upon a display is enhanced through the unobtrusive presentation of extrinsic data upon the same display. A video content feature is rendered on a display. A quantity of extrinsic data relevant to a current time in the video content feature is determined based at least in part on viewing history of a user. A graphical element presenting at least a portion of the extrinsic data is rendered on the display while the video content feature is also being rendered on the display.

  • Patent number: 9800951
Abstract: The playback of video content upon a display is enhanced through the unobtrusive presentation of extrinsic data upon the same display. A video content feature is rendered on a display. It is determined whether to present extrinsic data relevant to a current time in the video content feature based at least in part on appearance control metadata. A graphical element presenting at least a portion of the extrinsic data is rendered on the display while the video content feature is also being rendered on the display in response to determining to present the extrinsic data.

  • Patent number: 9710819
Abstract: A computing system accepts audio from one or more sources, parses the audio into chunks, and transcribes the chunks in substantially real time. Some transcription is performed automatically, while other transcription is performed by humans who listen to the audio and enter the words spoken and/or the intent of the caller (such as directions given to the system). The system provides for participants a user interface that is updated in substantially real time with the transcribed text from the audio stream(s). A single audio line can be used for simple transcription, and multiple audio lines are used to provide a real-time transcript of a conference call, deposition, or the like. A pool of analysts creates, checks, and/or corrects transcription, and callers/observers can even assist in the correction process through their respective user interfaces. Ads derived from the transcript are displayed together with the text in substantially real time.

  • Patent number: 9374411
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for recommending content for users. A user is associated with a user preferred character that is represented in a first network content. A library is referenced to identify a recommended character based at least upon the user preferred character, the recommended character being represented in a second network content, the library associating the preferred character to the recommended character according to a relationship score. A recommendation is sent for presentation of the second network content.

  • Patent number: 8223944
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for improving connection to and management of conference calls. An inference/rules engine and human backed speech interpretation subsystem enable the system to efficiently use knowledge about the call to identify the caller and determine to which conference he or she should be connected. During the conference, a virtual assistant is available to interpret and execute system commands spoken by a caller, such as in a side conference accessed via DTMF tones.
