Abstract: A clearing cylinder comprises an upper cylindrical housing, a lower cylindrical housing, and a head assembly. The upper cylindrical housing further comprises an upper surface having a first circumferential recess, a first wiper ring disposed within the first circumferential recess, an upper side wall, and an upper bore defined within the upper side wall. The lower cylindrical housing further comprises a lower side wall defining an internal cylindrical cavity and containing a breather vent. The head assembly is disposed between the upper cylindrical housing and the lower cylindrical housing and further comprises a second circumferential recess defined within a topmost inside surface of the head assembly and a second wiper ring disposed within the second circumferential recess.

Abstract: A clearing cylinder including a rod, a lower cylindrical housing, an upper cylindrical housing, the rod being attached to a piston assembly. The clearing cylinder further includes a first outwardly extending cylindrical flange attached to one end of the lower cylindrical housing, a second outwardly extending cylindrical flange attached to an opposite end of the upper cylindrical housing, and fasteners for fastening the first and second flanges to each other. The clearing cylinder also includes a head assembly captured between the lower cylindrical housing and the upper cylindrical housing adjacent the first and second flanges, the head assembly having therein an inner surface defining a bore through which the rod passes, the inner surface, having a first circumferential recess, and a first wiper ring mounted in said first circumferential recess.

Abstract: A wedge device is movable to alternatively engage and disengage the upper portion of the bowl liner of a crusher. The wedge device comprises a wedge having a forward portion and a cavity configured to receive a cylinder. At the rearward portion of the wedge device is a bolt. A threaded end of the bolt is configured to mate with a like-threaded nut. The wedge device is positioned such that the head of the bolt contacts an outer surface of the crusher. A cylinder is placed within the cavity. When the cylinder is pressurized, the wedge nose engages the bowl liner. The nut is then easily rotated and moved into a “holding” position behind the rearward portion of the wedge. The cylinder can then be removed from the wedge cavity and moved for use with another wedge device. A lock plate can be used to prevent rotation of the nut.
