  • Patent number: 10144377
Abstract: A truck bed guard is provided that includes an undulating protective panel having a plurality of longitudinally aligned bends that forms at least one groove and at least one protrusion configured to increase impact resistance. A first flange extends transversely from the top of the panel to provide a first attachment feature, and a second flange extends vertically down beneath the panel to provide a second attachment feature. The guard may be attached to a bed wall of a truck via the first attachment feature and the second attachment feature. A gap between the undulating protective panel and the bed wall is configured to prevent damage to the bed wall. The truck bed guard provides impact resistance to protect the bed wall from objects transported in the truck bed.

  • Publication number: 20130238205
Abstract: An auxiliary braking device for use in a towed vehicle has an actuator with a moving element that connects via a cable or the like to a brake pedal arm of the towed vehicle. A pulley or similar redirection device is located in the space behind the brake pedal arm with the cable being routed from the actuator to the brake pedal arm via the pulley ensuring that the line of pull on the brake pedal arm is in the direction of the brake pedal's normal movement. The actuator may be a pneumatic actuator that is controlled by pressurized air from an air compressor of a controller.

  • Publication number: 20040066028
Abstract: The present invention comprises a splashguard for use in controlling tire splashes of a vehicle. The splashguard comprises a first plate being attachable to the vehicle. The splashguard further comprises a second plate attached to the first plate. When a surface being traveled on by the vehicle changes surface level, the second plate preferably pivots relative to the first plate to adjust height of the splashguard. The present invention further comprises a method of creating a splashguard. The method comprises providing a first plate, which is configured to be attached to a vehicle and to substantially block tire splashes. The first plate preferably defines at least one removable portion. The removable portion is preferably configured to accommodate at least one vehicle component protruding from the rear side of the vehicle, such as a muffler or a trailer hitch receiver.

  • Patent number: 5362084
Abstract: A carrier for supporting flexible couplings interconnected between a towing vehicle and a towed vehicle such as safety cables, safety chains and electrical cable. The carrier is mounted on the hitch of the towing vehicle with configured formations extending laterally from the hitch. The formations support and carry the flexible couplings at a distance from the union of the hitches of the towing and towed vehicle. The carrier prevents the flexible couplings from damage by preventing the flexible couplings from becoming entrapped between the hitch bottom and the ground and by maintaining the flexible couplings at a distance from the union of the hitches of the towing and towed vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5184840
Abstract: A hitch protector for a vehicle hitch for protecting the vehicle hitch from impacting and rubbing against the surface of a roadway. The hitch protector is end mountable on the receiving socket of the vehicle hitch and is retained by a retention pin. Blocks strategically located on the framework of the hitch protector prevent the hitch protector from pivoting about the retention pin and thus maintain the hitch protector in the installed position. A roller mounted on the framework of the hitch protector is positioned below the hitch upon installation and prevents the end of the hitch from coming into contact with the ground surface. Forces resulting from the roller contacting the ground surface are transmitted to the reinforced end of the receiving socket of the hitch.
